Emil Zátopek was the 1st runner to break the 29-minute barrier in the 10,000 metres and the hour for running 20km and went undefeated in his first 38 races over 10,000m from 1948 through to 1954. He won 3 gold medals at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki; the 5,000m, 10,000m and Marathon.

Emil developed a system of high-volume interval training which changed the way that elite distance runners train.

A legend who revolutionised the sport and one of the greatest runners of the 20th century.
