This old cigarette card from the 1920’s is significant on many levels. Back then we had trams - many of which disappeared, people rode bikes to work, to the shops, for leisure, looking stylish too! People did smoke back then - and collected these cards in a pack of 20 - but luckily we eventually learnt about the health issues of that particular activity. So here we are 100 years later and the idea that the motor car would replace every other means of travel is finally being unravelled big time. The environment, personal health, people-friendly towns and cities, oil prices, so many reasons. And now we have bikes that fill every possible need, especially for the commuter - just like the 1920’s man in the suit being careful with those tram lines. And the in particular is the big game changer.
