“When One Symptom Fades… and Another Shows Up”
Ever notice how when one ache, tension, or health worry finally eases — another one takes its place?
That’s not bad luck. It’s what Dr. John Sarno called the Symptom Imperative.
When the real source of distress — buried emotions, unresolved trauma, chronic stress — stays unaddressed, the mind creates new distractions to keep those feelings out of awareness.
One week it’s back pain.
Next week it’s stomach issues.
Then it’s anxiety, fatigue, or panic.
Different symptoms.
Same message: “Feel what you’ve been avoiding.”
🧠 Research supports this connection — studies show emotional suppression and unprocessed trauma are linked to shifts in both physical and psychological symptoms (J Psychosom Res, 2021; Front Psychol, 2023).
When we start facing our emotions safely and releasing that inner tension, the need for symptoms fades.
✨ The body isn’t broken. It’s brilliant.
It will keep whispering — or shouting — until it’s finally heard.

Ever wonder why your anxiety shows up out of nowhere?
Science says: it’s not “out of the blue” — it’s your body holding onto suppressed emotion and unresolved stress.
When we push down fear, anger, or grief, the nervous system doesn’t forget — it stores it. Over time, that unprocessed energy becomes chronic tension, racing thoughts, and anxiety that feels uncontrollable.
🧠 Studies show emotional suppression and early trauma are strong predictors of anxiety and somatic symptoms (Frontiers in Psychology, 2023; J Psychosom Res, 2021).
💓 MRI research even shows that repressed emotion activates the same brain regions involved in pain and threat detection (NeuroImage: Clinical, 2020).
That’s where TMS — The Mindbody Syndrome approach — comes in.
Founded on Dr. John Sarno’s work, TMS therapy helps you reconnect the dots between your mind, emotions, and body.
When you stop fearing your symptoms and start feeling what’s underneath, your nervous system can finally exhale.
Because anxiety isn’t a flaw to fix — it’s a signal to understand.
Listen to the message. Your body already knows the way back to calm. 🌿

Clean, healthy food is essential.
But ..
• Up to 90% of doctor visits are said to be stress-related.
• Up to 80% of chronic pain and symptoms may be caused by stress, trauma and related suppressed emotions.
• 80-90% of toxins in the body are emotional toxins.
Eating healthy is fruitless (no pun intended) if we are stressed and traumatized.
We are not thinking beings that feel every once in while, but emotional beings that think every once in a while.
We never forget how someone made us feel.
Emotions are powerful forces.
So powerful they can cause chronic conditions.
The mind and body are one.
What occurs in our minds can affect our bodies and vice versa.
Consider how we blush with embarrassment, feel anger boiling inside, experience a nervous stomach, or develop a pressure headache.
Our bodies respond to emotional problems.
And repressed emotions have an even more profound effect.
Repressed emotions from life experiences, stress-inducing personality traits, or childhood can significantly impact our bodies and nervous systems.
Bottled up emotions create tension.
A tense nervous system can cause physical symptoms.
The brain is part of the nervous system and pain is triggered by the brain
Pain and symptoms are a sign that the nervous system is dysregulated, that our emotional reservoir is overflowing.
When in pain, we get desperate and busy ...
In great fear, we run to doctors, specialists, naturopaths, healers, astrologers...
Yet, the underlying issue remains untouched.
The repressed emotions yearn to be acknowledged and released.
Hardly anyone is aware of the connection between emotions and physical symptoms.
But it is plain neuroscience. It’s how the brain works.
Once the suppressed emotions are released, the tension dissipates.
Chronic pain or symptoms begin to diminish.
It is magic.
It’s time to empower people with this approach.
Because …
• Approximately one in five American adults — around 50 million individuals — experience chronic pain or symptoms most days or every day over the past six months.
• Chronic pain and symptoms contribute to over $500 billion annually in direct healthcare costs, disability expenses, and lost productivity.
Emotions are often the root cause of many of these issues.
Without addressing emotions, true healing cannot occur.
Mindbody work can empower individuals to break free from years of suffering. The approach involves transformative neuroscience, release and self-soothing techniques.

Havening can help us to process traumatic experiences, stress, negative experiences.
For example, physical touch reduces cortisol and increases serotonin in the brain. These chemical changes play a direct role in our mood and ability to cope with negative experiences.
The goal of havening is to keep painful experiences from impacting your mental health in the long term. Essentially, havening is a self-directed way to create a safe haven for yourself. The havening technique is a relatively new alternative therapy technique created by Drs. Steven and Ronald Ruden; it uses eye movement, touch, and distraction to relieve anxiety and distress from negative memories and create a “haven” in your mind.
How Does Havening Work? With Dr. Kate Truitt
A short and easily accessible description of how and why the Havening Techniques' Protocols work. Explores the use of self-havening and facilitated havening,...
