As a woman in midlife, I’m learning to release a lot.

I’m embracing the greying hair, the wrinkles — especially the laugh lines around my eyes. Embracing the extra kilo or two around my belly (while still keeping things in check, haha).

But there are two things I’m not ready to let go of: my SMEEP quality, and my ambition to create spaces for people to rest and truly relax.

Speaking of sleep — I made you something. A beautiful 9-page e-booklet, available now for just 10.- CHF (10.- EUR).

Inside, I share 3 vital practices Ayurveda recommends you start today, plus 2 evening potions, whiped up in 5 minutes to help you sleep better — recipes I learned during my recent study trip at the Ayurveda College in Pune, India, to deepen my studies.

Think of it like caring for a baby’s sleep — we have to cultivate the right conditions for rest to happen. If your days run on three-plus coffees and your nights run late, you’re burning the candle at both ends. So yes, it takes a little discipline. Discipline is not fun, but it works, take little steps and over time it will add up!

Our melatonin — our sleep hormone — shifts as we move through midlife. That’s exactly why good sleep rituals matter now more than ever.

The older I get, the simpler my home practice becomes.

1. I prop my Downward Dog over a chair, finding the big triangle of strength, structure & stability in my body, but also all the waves needed so I’m not a rigid “dog.”
2. A yogi once said, you’re only as healthy as your spine. I spend a few minutes in a supported Supta Virasana with a chair. Why complicate things in midlife.
3. Sirsasana, making sure to empty my mind of all the unnecessary blah. (I should do this one more often.)
4. No picture: 12 minutes of morning meditation, simply being with myself and watching my thoughts.

Why do you keep waking at 3 a.m. during perimenopause?

In this phase, hormones fluctuate and the nervous system becomes more sensitive.

Between 2 and 4 a.m., cortisol naturally begins to rise, while melatonin, your sleep hormone, declines. So waking at this time can be biologically normal.

In Ayurveda, this is part of Vata time (Brahma Muhurta)—between 2 and 6 a.m.—when the mind is lighter, more active, and traditionally used for meditation, clarity, or studying.

So if you wake up, you don’t need to panic.

What makes it difficult is often not the waking itself, but the thought spiral, hot flushes, and stress about not falling back asleep.

This is where the nervous system needs support, not force.

What the garden is teaching me.

When we first talked about creating a garden, I wasn’t convinced.

My husband dreamed of vegetables, fruit trees, and overflowing harvests. I imagined a few sculptural cacti that could happily survive without me.

I told myself I didn’t have a green thumb. That it would be too much work. That I wouldn’t know what anything needed.

I was wrong.

Nature is surprisingly generous. It doesn’t ask for perfection. It simply asks that you pay a little attention.

The more time I spend in the garden, the more I realize it’s quietly teaching me how to live.

To hydrate enough.

To trust that not everything has to happen overnight.

That it’s okay to fail. Some plants simply don’t make it—and that’s part of the cycle.

That growth takes time, but once the conditions are right, it unfolds almost effortlessly.

To open myself toward the light, like a flower instinctively turning to the sun.

That some plants thrive because they’re growing beside the right companions. They nourish and protect one another, just as we do.

And that nothing in nature is “on” all the time. There are seasons of flowering, seasons of rest, seasons that look quiet but are anything but. Even the garden knows when to pause.

There is something deeply luxurious about walking outside to pick herbs for tea, figurs still warm from the sun, or fruit you’ve watched ripen day by day.

Especially now, as our relationship with food becomes increasingly distant and complex. Growing even a small part of what we eat feels less like a hobby and more like remembering something we’ve always known.

Maybe a garden doesn’t just feed us.

Maybe it teaches us how to come back to ourselves. Reconnected with the five elements.

You might notice digestive changes like soft stools, while your skin may show outbreaks or rashes.

Swipe and follow my tipps how to stay cool & calm this summer.

The greatest gift Ayurveda offers is not another wellness tool. It‘s a time tested wisdom. It is the remembrance of who you are beneath the noise, the expectations, and the constant doing.

What I share during my retreats is more than Ayurvedic knowledge, self-care practices, recipes or lifestyle tools.

It is an invitation to come home to yourself. And remember forgotten wisdom.

To learn to cultivate a relationship with yourself in which you learn to prioritize your own needs. We cultivate not from a place of selfishness, but from a place of grace, self-respect, and deep nourishment.

Because when a woman feels deeply connected to herself, she no longer looks outside for a sense of safety, worth, or belonging.

She belongs to herself!

She carries it within. This inner connection becomes an anchor—a source of strength, softness, clarity, and trust that supports her through every season of life.

During my upcoming retreat, WILD GRACE in Mallorca (September 25–29), I will be sharing a powerful Breast Healing Workshop. We will learn to care from a physical but also from a metaphysical aspect.

A deeply nurturing experience that invites you to reconnect with your feminine wisdom, awaken greater self-love, and restore a more intimate relationship with your body.

If this speaks to you, comment WILD below and I will send you all the details.

This morning’s class Cal Reiet Holistic Retreat „Healing Retreat“ was an invitation into Soma — the lunar essence within us.
We worked with breath, following a classical pranayama sequence, and moved into asana designed to gently calm the nervous system.
A practice of returning to the feminine, receptive, quiet intelligence of the body.

It is always humbling to witness how simple, clear, ancient practices remain profoundly relevant for our healing today.

Healing does not require intensity or force. It asks for awareness, presence, and gentleness. When we begin to restore balance, we first work with the energetic body — yet we experience life through the physical form, and so everything is deeply interconnected.

The lunar and the solar cannot be separated. While our modern world has long emphasized solar qualities — action, direction, output — we are now called to remember the lunar within us as well. Integration is the path. We are not only one or the other, but a living dialogue between both, and ultimately, of a stellar nature — this is the third principle. The individual you. An enlightened being.
