BC Zürich Makes History: Reaches National League A Finals for the First Time

In a landmark achievement for the club, BC Zürich has secured its first-ever appearance in the National League A Finals after an intense playoff series against BC Yverdon-les-Bains.

The journey began with a commanding 6-2 away victory in the first leg, putting Zürich in a strong position. The second leg proved more challenging, as the team had to compete without their star doubles player Zach Russ. However, the squad demonstrated remarkable depth and determination to secure their finals berth.

Key contributions came from across the roster:
- Nicolas A Müller delivered the clinching victory in singles
- The women’s doubles pair of Marie Cesari and Lucie Amiguet battled through a marathon 5-set match
- Ditlev Jaeger-Holm and Soen Rimmer added crucial singles wins

The moment of qualification sparked emotional celebrations, with Lucie Amiguet leaving her match (while leading) to join her teammates in celebration.

BC Zürich will now face Badminton Lausanne Association in the National League A Finals on May 3-4 at a venue to be determined. This marks the club’s first opportunity to compete for Swiss badminton’s top honor.

Currently second in the league with 30 points, Zurich has shown consistent form with 7 wins, 3 draws, and 2 losses. Their strong performance, including a 56:40 match score, positions them well for postseason contention. As they prepare for upcoming matches, BC Zurich remains focused on maintaining momentum and securing a playoff spot. New BCZ team member: Nicolas A. Müller, Swiss Champion 2022 in men‘s singles and mixed doubles will finally return to his roots in Zürich and will compete now with his friends who started to play Badminton with him.
