Are Yoga Bolsters Worth It? Here's What You Need to Know 16/05/2022

Let's talk bolsters... The key to any yoga pose is feeling steady and relaxed in the pose. Many years ago I read the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, and Sutra 2.46 is ‘sthira-sukham asanam.’ This means that we should strive to practice yoga with strength and in a relaxed manner. Sthira means strong, steady, and stable. Sukha means comfortable, happy, and relaxed. So basically, one should feel Yoga stable, and the body be at ease when in yoga.

Having the proper supports can enable you to feel more stable, and also fully release into the pose; in Restorative and Chair Yoga, bolsters of different types and sizes can help you to achieve this sense of balance, ease, and security.

They can be hard (and expensive!) to find in Abidjan, but luckily there are many great upholsters around town. We had some made for us. You can too.

Check out some of the many styles available here.

Hello all!.
I hope this message finds you well. It's been a long time! Where has the times landed you I wonder?
For me.... right back here....in Abidjan.

After galavanting to China, and following a pandemic induced whirlwind that took me to the Phillipines, the US, back to Cote d'Ivoire... and then a long anticipated but rewarded voyage to Singapore that did not pan out.....the vicissitudes of life have landed me right back here, where it all began..... It appears Abidjan has not finished with me yet. And I...I surrender.

So...I'm ask myself why am I here?

And an answer keeps coming to me...softly.. in spite of my efforts not to hear....It says... "Now, more than ever I (we) need to find serenity from within..."
I know I do.

But after lockdowns and Zooming from home...illness and recovery for many of us....job losses and business closures...and so so so much more....perhaps we could use a gentler and kinder way to inner peace.
I know I do...

And so I've begun a new yoga journey. It's comprised of gentle healing restorative poses and kinder, gentler chair yoga......Wonderful for everyone....Will join me?

I'm considering reopening SunLotus Yoga to offer these classes. Just for a trial run to begin. And I'd love to hear from you. Would you be interested?
