RIGHT LEVEL. RIGHT APPROACH. BETTER LEARNING!
For four days, NADEV brought together teachers from different parts of the region for a capacity-building workshop on the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach. The workshop, organized by NADEV, focused on equipping teachers with practical strategies to identify and understand learners’ different learning levels, improve learners’ foundational literacy and numeracy, and effectively integrate TaRL approaches into their everyday classroom teaching. Through interactive sessions, practical exercises, discussions, and experience-sharing, teachers gained valuable tools to make their teaching more responsive, inclusive, play-based, and effective. The Regional Delegate was represented at the workshop, further highlighting the importance of collaboration and collective efforts in strengthening teaching and learning. In her remarks, the representative of the Regional Delegate emphasized the value of the TaRL approach, stating: “Teaching at the Right Level is a valuable approach that encourages teachers to respond to learners’ different needs. Teachers should feel encouraged to integrate it into their classrooms, as using innovative approaches to support children’s learning should be embraced and encouraged.” We believe that when teachers are equipped with the right knowledge and tools, they are better positioned to support every learner to progress.

Today, NADEV joins the world in celebrating and honoring humanitarians the incredible men and women who continue to serve with courage, compassion, and commitment, even when the odds are against them. We celebrate those who go beyond difficult roads, challenging terrain, insecurity, and limited resources to access hard-to-reach communities. We also honor the humanitarians who lost their lives while serving others, and celebrate those who continue to carry the mission forward. Their courage reminds us that humanity is about standing with people, especially in their most difficult moments. NADEV, stands with other organizations to make a difference.

REAL IMPACT ALWAYS FINDS ITS WAY BACK
Change doesn’t end when a project ends, it continues in every life it touched. For 14 months, NADEV proudly implemented the Gender Transformative Education for Adolescent Girls (GTE) Project, led by the IGNITE Consortium and funded by Agence Française de Développement (AFD). Together, we helped create safe, inclusive, and empowering learning environments where adolescent girls could learn, grow, and thrive. Today, those girls are more confident, informed, and determined to pursue their dreams and education. Because investing in girls creates lasting change. Recognizing the project's success, IGNITE provided additional support for a rapid follow-up intervention at GBHS Muea, and on April 30th 2026 , our team returned with dignity kits and a renewed commitment to the girls we serve. Over 50 more adolescent girls received support, encouragement, and a powerful reminder: that they matter and belong and that their future matters. At NADEV, we know that when girls are empowered, communities become stronger and futures become brighter.

Empowering Community Leaders through Gender Transformative Education*

Some leaders of the Muea community have been drilled on the importance of Gender Transformative Education.

Organised by NADEV, the one day workshop aimed to equip community leaders with the knowledge and skills necessary to reduce barriers found in communities hindering adolescent girls in accessing and carrying on with school, promote gender equality and social change.

Our esteemed NADEV staff led the insightful sessions on: Barriers/mitigation affecting adolescent girls, safeguarding and child protection, prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse, mental health and psychosocial support.

Participants engaged in action planning to provide feedback, ensuring a comprehensive and impactful experience. By empowering community leaders, NADEV is putting up all necessary measures across all sectors in promoting adolescent girls explore their potentials and contributing to a more equitable and just society.

Gender Transformative Education for a Brighter Future

Some school Administrators and teachers from GSS Kang Barombi and GBHS Muea gathered for a comprehensive training on Gender Transformative Education (GTE).

This capacity-building initiative aimed to equip educators with the knowledge and skills necessary to create a safe, inclusive, and conducive learning environment for adolescent girls.

Key highlights of the training included: reducing barriers to adolescent girls’ education, Safeguarding and child protection, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS).

By integrating these components, educators will be better equipped to promote gender equality, challenge harmful gender stereotypes, foster a culture of respect and create an enabling school milieu for these girls to explore their potentials.

NADEV Joins Global Efforts to Combat GBV

As the world observes the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV), NADEV took to the streets of the Muea neighborhood in Buea on December 5, 2024, to raise awareness about this pressing issue.

This year's theme:
"Orange the World: End Violence against Women Now!", was at the forefront of NADEV's sensitization campaign, which aimed to educate community members about the devastating effects of GBV and the importance of reporting cases of GBV.

The activity was well-received, with some community members committing to report any instances of GBV. This pledge demonstrates the power of community-led initiatives in preventing GBV.

These efforts are part of a global movement, with numerous NGOs around the world working tirelessly to eradicate GBV. Together, we can create a safer, more equitable world for all.

NADEV Holds AGM, Charts Future Growth

NADEV convened its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday 27th November at the NADEV conference room, reviewing successes and challenges.

Despite achieving over 50% of its objectives, insufficient funding opportunities posed a significant hurdle to the full realisation of her objectives says Mr Nkegoa Martin, president of the Board.

To fully achieve its ojectives, the association will continue fundraising efforts through proposal writing, he added.

A major milestone of this year's AGM was the formation of a 7-member Board of Trustees, paving the way for NADEV's registration and recognition of the NGO status.
This development seeks to enhance NADEV's impact and sustainability.
