On the sidelines of the conference on children in armed conflict in Central Africa, that was held in Yaounde from the 8th to the 9th of July, education stakeholders under the banner of the National Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration committee - Cameroon, discussed education as a tool to prevent the recruitment of children into armed groups in and ensure that education becomes a tool for sustainable reintegration of children and the prevention of re-recrutement into armed. The representive of OSRSG-CAAC, moderated the discussions with Secondary Education Minister, Prof. Nalova Lyonga, Resident Coordinator, Dr. Issa SANOGO, the National Coordinator of NDDRC Cameroon, Mr. Fai Yengo Francis and the president of the Cameroon Human Rights Commission, James Mouangue Kobila as panelists.

📍 Bertoua accueille la retraite d’alignement Gouvernement–Nations Unies dans le cadre du programme ConvergeFood
Du 8 au 10 juillet 2026, la ville de Bertoua accueille la retraite d’alignement Gouvernement–Nations Unies avec le Ministère de l’Agriculture et du Développement Rural (MINADER), dans le cadre de la mise en œuvre du programme ConvergeFood.
🌱 ConvergeFood est un programme conjoint visant à soutenir la mise en œuvre de l’Agenda national de convergence entre les systèmes alimentaires et le changement climatique, tout en renforçant l’appui aux PME et aux coopératives pour une transformation durable et résiliente du secteur agroalimentaire.
Cette première phase est financée par le Joint SDG Fund sous le leadership du MINADER, en étroite collaboration avec le MINEPDED, le MINSANTÉ, le MINEDUB, le MINCOMMERCE ainsi que les délégations régionales concernées.
🤝 Le programme bénéficie de l’accompagnement de cinq agences des Nations Unies :

✅ ONUDI (UNIDO)
✅ FENU (UNCDF)
Cette retraite constitue une étape importante pour renforcer l’alignement stratégique, consolider les synergies entre les parties prenantes et accélérer la mise en œuvre d’actions intégrées en faveur de systèmes alimentaires plus durables, inclusifs et résilients face aux défis climatiques.

The United Nations plays a vital role in shaping a more peaceful, fair, and sustainable world. From its founding in 1945, the UN has worked across borders to tackle challenges that no single nation can solve alone. It makes a difference in several powerful ways.

On Tuesday, 30 June, the Development Cooperation Effectiveness Dialogue took place at Mont Fébé Hotel in Yaoundé. Chaired by H.E. Alamine Ousmane Mey, Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development (MINEPAT), and Ms. Nadine Perrault, UN Resident Coordinator a.i., the dialogue brought together UN agencies, development partners, civil society, and the private sector.
✅ Encouraging progress
The results highlight significant achievements: Cameroon’s National Development Strategy 2020–2030 (NDS30) scored an impressive 0.9/1, reflecting strong planning quality and alignment with the 2030 Agenda. In addition, 97% of new development partner projects are aligned with national priorities.
Aid integration into the national budget has nearly doubled, rising from 25% in 2018 to almost 50%, strengthening transparency and accountability.
⚠️ Persistent challenges
Despite progress, key challenges remain:
• Declining medium-term aid predictability (47% of partners provide 3-year projections, down from 80%);
• Limited use of national systems for reporting and audits;
• Insufficient reliance on national indicators (only 39% of projects);
• Partial progress on inclusive development, particularly for women, youth, and persons with disabilities (score: 0.6/1).
🔧 Way forward
Strengthening private sector engagement—aligned with the Kampala Principles—and operationalizing the partnership coordination framework adopted by Prime Ministerial decree are key priorities to enhance cooperation effectiveness.
👉 These efforts aim to boost development impact and accelerate progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in Cameroon.
