THE SWORD AND THE DAGGER
By Rhio M. Zablan
From islands born beneath the sun,
Where sea and mountains meet as one,
Our fathers stood, our mothers prayed,
With sword and dagger, brave and unafraid.
Not for glory, not for war,
Not for riches, power, or more,
But for the home, the blood, the name,
For those they loved, they faced the flame.
In every strike, a heart was beating,
In every move, a love unyielding,
The hand was strong, the heart was true,
To guard the ones they loved and knew.
Sword and dagger, hand in hand,
Guarding home and guarding land,
Born in courage, forged in pain,
Carried through the sun and rain.
Sword and dagger, proud and free,
Tell the world our history,
Not for war, but peace we stand,
With love and hope across the land.
The blade once flashed in times of fear,
When danger came and drew too near,
The warrior rose, the village stayed,
For love was stronger than the blade.
A father fought for childrenâs dreams,
A mother guarded lifeâs bright streams,
And every blow, though fierce and strong,
Was born from love that carried on.
For what is strength if love is gone?
What is a sword when peace moves on?
The greatest warrior knows when to cease,
For true courage is the strength for peace.
From the islands to the world,
Let our Filipino story unfurl,
From the hands of those before,
To the hands of many nations more.
Once a shield when danger came,
Now a bridge that bears our name,
What our ancestors left behind
Now brings together humankind.
Arnis is more than steel and flame,
It is the soul behind our name.
From our ancestors, brave and true,
A gift of culture the world can share and do.
