🏉🇦🇺 HELLO APEC: UNCOVER OCEANIA

Yesterday, AFL China was proud to be part of “Hello APEC — Cultural Market: Uncover Oceania” in Shekou, Shenzhen!

We had an incredible time introducing Australian Football to the community through a huge Auskick session, with plenty of kids getting involved, learning handball, trying new skills and having fun with our coaches.

Events like this show the power of sport to bring people together, build connections and create meaningful Australia–China engagement.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the event happen. We loved sharing the spirit of Australian Football with the Shenzhen community! 🇦🇺🇨🇳🏉

🇦🇺🇨🇳 G'Day GBA: AFL China in Shenzhen!

What a weekend!
Proud to join G'Day GBA showcasing Australia's culture, sports, and community ahead of APEC 2026. For AFL China, it was a great opportunity to showcase Australian Football and the role sport can play in Australia–China sports diplomacy, bringing people together and building connections through something shared.
Our Auskick zone was full of energy, with kids joining in handball, interactive games, and plenty of fun with our coaches.

Big thanks to Australian Ambassador Scott Dewar, Consul-General Maree Ringland, Deputy Consul-General Alison Keys, the Qianhai authorities in Shenzhen, and the wider consulate team. Also thank you to Tourism Australia, the Australian states and territories, and all partners who made the event possible. And a special thank you to Fred Leone for his moving Indigenous music and dance performance.

G'Day GBA showed how culture and sport can bring Australia and China closer together.

G'Day, GBA!

The scoreboard doesn’t tell the whole story.

What stood out was the effort, the attitude and the way the girls stuck together throughout the day.

For many of them, this was a huge opportunity to represent China on the Asian stage — and they did it with pride.

So proud of this group. ❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who made the trip and represented China this weekend, our men, women, coaches, officials and everyone behind the scenes.

It was a long day of footy, plenty of tough games, some great moments and, most importantly, a lot of people coming together for the same reason: to represent China.

The results weren’t always what we wanted, but the experience, the friendships and the memories are what we’ll take home.

Proud of everyone who pulled on the China Reds jumper. ❤️🇨🇳

Together as One.
Go China Reds! 🏉
