🏆 第十七届国际导引养生功比赛今日在北体大盛大开幕！

来自丹麦、法国、韩国、新加坡、加拿大、澳大利亚、芬兰、比利时、俄罗斯以及中国内地、香港、澳门等地的200多名选手齐聚北京体育大学，共同参与这场中华养生文化的国际盛会。

本次比赛设导引养生功、养生太极、健身气功等多项个人与集体项目，涵盖八段锦、十二法、太极扇、太极剑等经典套路。未来两天（7月18-19日），各路高手将同台切磋，展现“动中求静”的东方智慧。

这位57岁的选手，从8岁起自学气功，至今已坚持49年。为了这次比赛，他提前抵达北体大，在赛前两天（7月16-17日）连续参加了高强度集训：

🏆 NEWS RELEASE – 17th International Daoyin Yang Sheng Gong Competition

Beijing Sport University, July 18, 2026 – The highly anticipated 17th International Daoyin Yang Sheng Gong Competition officially opened this morning at the Beijing Sport University General Gymnasium, uniting over 200 participants from across the globe in celebration of traditional Chinese health culture.

A Truly Global Gathering

Representing a diverse tapestry of cultures, teams have traveled from Denmark, France, South Korea, Singapore, Canada, Australia, Finland, Belgium, and Russia, alongside a strong host of delegations from Mainland China, Hong Kong and the Macau SAR. The two-day event, organized by the BSU Daoyin Yangsheng Center, features a packed schedule of individual and group competitions, focusing on categories ranging from Health Qigong (Ba Duan Jin, 12 Methods) to Taiji Palm, Fan, Sword, and Cudgel routines.

Athlete Spotlight: Nikola Maricic 马司洋 – A 49-Year Journey of Dedication

Among the distinguished international competitors stands Nikola Maricic 马司洋, the sole representative of the China Macau Qigong Team.

This week, Nikola demonstrated his unwavering commitment to the art by completing a rigorous two-day intensive training camp (July 16–17) at the BSU Daoyin Center, just hours before the competition began.

· Day 1 (July 16): He earned his Certificate of Participation for mastering Health Qigong · Shi Er Duan Jin (十二段锦) with direct guidance of Professor Yang Bailong 杨柏龙
· Day 2 (July 17): He added the elegant Health Promotion Taiji He Ling Fan Exercise (养生太极鹤龄双扇) to his repertoire, training under the direct guidance of Coach Yang Hui (杨慧).

"This is more than just a competition for me," Nikola shared. "I started learning Qigong alone at age eight. To be here at Beijing Sport University, training alongside its esteemed faculty just days before the main event, is a dream fulfilled. I am here as a student first, ready to listen and learn, but also to share my 49 years of experience with the global family of Qigong practitioners."

What to Expect Next

The competition continues until July 19, with athletes competing in categories including the Dao Yin Yang Sheng Gong 12 Methods, Ba Duan Jin (Competition Version), and Shu Xin Ping Xue Gong. As a testament to the spirit of the event, an exhibition and performance segment will also highlight the beauty of these ancient practices.

My name is 马司洋 Nikola Maricic. I hold a Macau SAR passport—I am Chinese.

From the age of eight, I began teaching myself Chinese culture and health exercises with absolutely zero external influence. No Chinese family background, no martial arts movies, no teachers—only a deep inner calling. For 49 years, I never let go.

As a child, I suffered from scoliosis. Qigong healed me. That is why I use my own time and my own money to compete and to teach—not for fame or profit, but to thank Chinese culture for the gift of a renewed life.

• 2019 – The 8th World Health Qigong Tournament & Exchange (Melbourne, Australia)
Won First Prize (Gold) in three categories: Yijinjing, Baduanjin, and Daoyin Yangsheng Gong Shi Er Fa.
My score was higher than the mainland Chinese national team—an achievement rarely seen in international competition.

• 2024 – The 16th Beijing Sport University International Dao Yin Yang Sheng Gong Competition
Won Gold Medal in the Men’s A Group Yu Zhen Bu Yuan Gong (First Set).

• Teaching since 1985 – over 40 years of instructional experience.

My expertise lies in the Dao Yin Yang Sheng Gong system created by Professor Zhang Guangde.

Professor Zhang Guangde is a first-generation Wushu postgraduate of Beijing Sport University, a recipient of the National Special Allowance, and a winner of the China National Sports Science and Technology Progress Award. This system integrates the philosophy of the I Ching, TCM meridian theory, Yin-Yang and the Five Elements, and Qi-Blood theory. It emphasizes movement with stillness within, aiming to strengthen the body, prevent illness, and prolong life.

China hasn't been to the World Cup since 2002. Six failed campaigns. Billions spent. Dozens of coaches hired and fired.

But the person they're looking for might already be in China.

Born in Croatia, now holds Chinese citizenship and a Macau SAR passport

But his most extraordinary achievement has nothing to do with martial arts. It has to do with football.

The Miracle
Benfica de Macau. 1951 to 2013. 64 years. Zero championships.

In 2014, Maricic arrived. He stayed less than one month. He taught 3 to 4 classes. 100 Macau patacas per class — about $12.50 USD. Total: **less than $60.**

"64 years, zero championships. 3 classes. 5 championships. And they fired me because 500 patacas was 'too expensive.' Now China is looking for a coach to reach the World Cup. Are you going to make the same mistake?"

The Man Behind the Miracle
He organized World Tai Chi & Qigong Day in Croatia since 1999 — featured on national television and CNN iReport.

In 2012, he had a private meeting with the President of Croatia.

He taught voluntarily and free of charge at the Diabetes Association and the Association of Paraplegics and Quadriplegics — helping the chronically ill and severely disabled recover their health.

He privately coached players from top Croatian football clubs — who later improved and transferred to bigger clubs. None could publicly acknowledge his role due to contract restrictions.

He did it all without seeking fame or money. He did it because China's culture saved his life.

"I started practicing when I was eight years old with a book. We didn't have Chinese people in our community. I always wanted to go to China. Now I live in China."

The Question
The CFA received over 60 applications — including Fabio Cannavaro and others. They chose Shao Jiayi.

But did they miss someone?

Maricic has something no other candidate has: a documented record of turning a 64-year-losing team into a 5-time champion in less than a month, for the cost of a pizza.
