A recap of a weekend of racing and good fun in Nanjing, from our SRC President:
"End of day 2 and end of Nanjing regatta, we are all on the way back or already in Shanghai and it’s time to make a summary of this fantastic weekend.
Rowing side we made the job as usual, the crew pushed all the 19 boats to the finales and we collected 7 gold, 6 silver and 2 bronze. Everyone from SRC is going back home with (at least) a medal around the neck and stories to tell for generations.
Well, did we expect less? Nope. For the last 6 years now, we are racing in all major events, winning medals and cups and writing the SRC history and reputation. Again those two days, friends from all China are happy to tell us how they respect our club, how they look at it, how they envy us sometimes, warm words and attention that we all have to be proud of. Not only the winning, but also all our behavior, respect for other clubs and fairness give this positive image of SRC in China, which makes us always on top of the list when invitations are sent.
And yes, because we are often winning, we are bringing interest to regatta we participate... and yes, so far, it was mainly Men... but guess what? The girls launched the hashtag and exploded our standards. 7 gold we said? What does it mean? 2 Mixed boat, 2 Women and 3 Men. That regatta was tough and we had impressive number of competition so I truly believe that this is one of the big landmark in SRC winning career and I hope our valorous girls will continue to inspire and win more and more. Congratulations to Annie, Ariel, Bei, Chris, Eline, Gigi, Grace, Irene, KK and Lisa for those excellent results.
Do you really continue reading? Train is arriving soon, so let’s make it quick. Competition is important, but values are more, and this weekend it was a pleasure to see how SRC made a communion around our motto “have fun”. This was one of the busiest regatta we participated to, but thanks to the team effort we succeed to align all our boats to the start, with an orange army, carrying blades, switching boats, helping and caring for other crews. This is the true rowing spirit and what has made us great those last years. As a president, it’s the best gift you can receive from the group, on top of all smiles captured on pictures. So many thanks to all the team who represented SRC at best : our girls and our boys: Gerald, Gordon, Liang, Marco, Michael, Nayou, Simon and Yevgen. Was a great time together, very emotional sometimes too.
Last thank for tonight to all of you who stayed at home and send good vibrations. We know you are with us always. Train arrived already long time ago, Good night SRC."
