Want jaw-dropping close-ups of nudibranchs, shrimp, and other tiny critters? Try these pro tips on your next dive:
Create Real Black Backgrounds – Shoot upward with open water, use fast shutter + small aperture, and light your subject carefully to light your subject (and reduce backscatter) for dramatic results.
Use Red Light to Focus – Perfect for not scaring shy marine life.
Stay Steady & Get Close – Get as close as possible to your subject and control your buoyancy to avoid shaky shots. Fill the frame with your subject — nudibranchs, shrimp, or blennies should be the star, not lost in the background.
