Success is how hard you fought for that place, and that is what makes us proud.
We treat winning and losing as the imposters they both are.

A weekend of breakthroughs.
Max is back. The Chinese team stepped up. And four years of hard work finally started showing where it matters most, on the race course.
Is this the start of a great Chinese wave?
Not yet.
But is the future bright? You bet it is.
Read the story behind a very special weekend for Trisutto in The Weihai Wave. ๐๐จ๐ณ

Does triathlon add more to my life than it takes away?
It was 2 a.m., four hours into a wait at the airport, with another 14-hour flight still ahead of me, when a surprise Business Class upgrade at the gate was a wonderful gift.
But it got me thinking. Business Class is still, in many ways, just a more comfortable version of economy. You still travel to the airport when they tell you. You still queue for security and immigration. You still sit around waiting. You still leave when they decide and land where their airport happens to be.
The real luxury of a private jet isnโt the seat or the food. Itโs buying back your time, avoiding much of the above. I see the same thing with the athletes I coach.
The younger ones, or those newer to the sport, are chasing PBs. Training hard to unlock the next improvement in performance. That's how you find out what youโre capable of. However, the athletes Iโve worked with longest, particularly those in their 50s and 60s, start to think about time differently. Not because theyโve gone soft. Because at some point you start doing the maths on how many good, healthy years youโve actually got left. And it changes what youโre willing to spend them on.
For years, success in triathlon has been measured by more. More training. More races. Another Ironman. Another medal. Another qualification. Another finish line. But the question eventually becomes: which experiences are actually worth spending my good years on? Fewer races, maybe. But better ones. Somewhere I actually want to be. With people I actually want to be there with.
The same applies to training. Iโm a great believer in getting the work done. But not every hour has to be justified by physiological adaptation. A two-hour ride on a beautiful morning isnโt wasted time just because 75 minutes on the turbo might produce the same training effect. I might actually enjoy those two hours. That ride is part of the life Iโm trying to build. Three hours staring at a garage wall because a programme says I need more volume is a different thing entirely. Those are three hours I donโt get back.
So the objective changes as we get older. Donโt simply maximise performance. Maximise the return on the time invested. At the end of a season, perhaps thereโs a better question to ask than how fast we went.
Does triathlon add more to my life than it takes away?

Many triathletes work so hard in the swim that their legs are already paying the price before the bike begins.
Place-Press-Push is a Trisutto swim technique built around efficient, arm-led swimming, helping you move through the water while keeping your legs fresher for the rest of the race.
The result is a calmer swim start, better control and more confidence when the effort continues beyond the pool. It is a coach-led approach used successfully by world champions, but it is just as valuable for anyone preparing for their first triathlon.
Progress comes from desire, discipline, dedication, determination and detail : not from expensive gadgets or sporting ego. Success is not winning every session. It is becoming a little more capable, confident and consistent each week.

Super happy to have convincingly defended my title from 2025!
Just six days after my half distance race and in the middle of a big training block, I went hard from start to finish and it paid off. It hasnโt always been easy lately, which makes me extra happy with this result ๐ฅ
Renkum is a special race to me and I really enjoyed the day with family, fellow athletes and friends ๐๐ซถ๐ผ
