Dave Brailsford sat down with the President of Colombia Ivan Duque and Coldeportes director Ernesto Lucena the ministry of sport to discuss the possibility of converting Team Sky into the first ever Colombian WorldTour team. Why is this so significant? Because the entire concept makes sense at every checkpoint. The landscape of Colombia is the best terrain for cycling year round in the world, bar none. The infrastructure for racing on the national level is the highest of any country with 8 continental teams and 1 continental pro team competing, on top of the other nationally ranked teams, which means that Sky can easily take their development system to another level. Finally, it's a no brainer financially. The team sky management will be able to make massive savings in their overall budget across the board. With the support of the Colombian government, it's looking like Team sky could become Colombia's first world tour team.”
