MARINA HEMINGWAY OPENED AT THE ARRIVAL OF FOREIGN PLEASURE BOATS
We gladly inform our members and those of the international nautical community from the headquarters of the Hemingway International Yacht Club of Cuba that Marina Hemingway has been open to the arrival of foreign pleasure boats.
With this new opening, Marina Hemingway joins Marina Gaviota Varadero, both in the north of Cuba, and Marina Marlin Santiago de Cuba, Marina Marlin Cayo Largo del Sur and Marina Marlin Cienfuegos, in the south of the island, in welcoming foreign pleasure boats.
The Hemingway International Yacht Club of Cuba, SANCTUARY of love for the sea and friendship between people who love the sea and BASTIÓN in defense and rescue of Cuban history and nautical traditions, will feel very happy and honored to receive back in its headquarters to its members and those of the international nautical community.
Best regards,

EPIDEMIOLOGICAL PROTOCOL FOR FOREIGN VESSELS ARRIVING TO THE CUBAN MARINAS
Before arriving a boat, coming from another country, to a Cuban international marina, the Dock Master asks the captain about the health of the crew, who must inform if there are any sick crew members or if they are all healthy.
Once the vessel reaches a marina, the captain and crew are questioned. All crew members have their temperatures taken and tested for Covid-19 (PCR). The result of the PCR takes 24 to 48 hours. If any crew member has respiratory or subjective symptoms of Covid-19, he is hospitalized. The boat and the rest of the crew will be in quarantine until the results of the test are available. If the patient tests positive for Covid-19; he is hospitalized and the rest of the crew is transferred to an isolation center.
The healthy crew, who were admitted to the marina, have to remain on board the vessel until the results of the Covid-19 test are available. If the PCR are negative for all crew members, each one has to inform where they will stay, for epidemiological surveillance. For this epidemiological surveillance, the 10 days are counted from the date of departure from the last port or marina where they were.

PROHIBITION OF PERMANENCE AND NAVIGATION TO FOREIGN RECREATIONAL VESSELS IN CUBAN TERRITORIAL WATERS RAISED
With immense joy and satisfaction I greet you on behalf of the Hemingway International Yacht Club of Cuba and on my own behalf.
Yesterday, our Yacht Club received a copy of Resolution 269 of the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Cuba, issued on 19 of this month, which establishes the opening of recreational navigation of foreign vessels by our territorial sea, as well as the beginning of the operations of the international marinas, in the provinces that are in the phase of the "New Normality".
Until today, foreign pleasure boats that wish to sail to Cuba may access our country through the following international marinas:
South coast:
Marina Marlin Santiago de Cuba (Santiago de Cuba province), Marina Marlin Cienfuegos (Cienfuegos Province) and Marina Marlin Cayo Largo del Sur
North Coast:
Marina Gaviota Varadero (Matanzas province). In the case of the Marina Marlin Hemingway (Havana province), it is still closed because the Cuban capital is in the Third Phase. We hope that in the next few days Havana will pass to the phase of the New Normality in which Marina Hemingway will begin to serve foreign vessels that arrive here.
In addition to Marina Marlin Hemingway, Marina Gaviota Vita (Holguín province) is closed.
From the Hemingway International Yacht Club of Cuba we will inform immediately when Havana is included in the New Normality and foreign pleasure boats can sail to Marina Marlin Hemingway and dock here.
For our part, we are very anxious to have the wonderful opportunity to welcome all our members and those of the international nautical community who arrive at the Cuban Marinas at the headquarters of our Yacht Club.
Happy sailing,
Commodore Escrich

From the Commodore;
To the members of the Hemingway International Yacht Club of Cuba and to those of the International Nautical Community:
With immense satisfaction and optimism I greet you on behalf of our Cuban nautical institution and on my own behalf.
After 7 months without being able to enjoy the sea in the company of our family and friends due to the pandemic that is hitting the world and that has caused many deaths, suffering and fears and to which is added an immense impact on the economy of many countries; We are close to clearing the stormy horizon and lights of optimism begin to emerge that are announcements of an awakening full of happiness for those of us who love the practice of recreational nautical activities.
In Cuba, after an absolute immobility in the tourist marinas, we prepare ourselves, so that with the opening of them, in the next few days, we can go sailing, fishing and dreaming with the stars as witnesses, defending our right and passion to be friends of the sea; and together a sea of friends.
With my best regards,,
Commodore Escrich

THE HEMINGWAY INTERNATIONAL YACHT CLUB OF CUBA ARRIVES AT ITS 28th YEARS OF FOUNDATION
This Thursday, May 21th, the Hemingway International Yacht Club of Cuba, "Sanctuary" of love for the sea and friendship between people who love the sea and "Bastion" in defense and rescue of Cuban history and nautical traditions, arrives at its 28 years of existence with the immense satisfaction of having managed to establish relationships of friendship and collaboration with hundreds of institutions of the international nautical community and grateful for the privilege of holding the representation of the most important associations of cruising associations and fishermen, as well as having been welcomed as a member of dozens of these institutions; breaking with this the isolation of Cuba with that community.
During these 28 years, many nautical and academic events have been held and have allowed us to share with representatives of the nautical community from dozens of countries, contributing to friendship and respect between people of different faiths, ideologies and social status, but to whom the love of the sea unites them.
In its task of contributing to the rescue of Cuban history and nautical traditions, the Hemingway International Yacht Club of Cuba continues in its efforts to strengthen its collaborative ties with the Cuban nautical, maritime and port sector, for which it has celebrated and supported the organization of academic events and activities, with the aim of contributing to the rescue of the "culture of the sea" in our nation.
Today, the Hemingway International Yacht Club of Cuba is very proud to be made up of a family of 3506 members from 73 countries, many of whom have sent us messages of solidarity, hope and optimism in the midst of this pandemic that has brought us much sadness, misfortune and fear, but it also teaches us how important solidarity and love are.
There were multiple activities that we had planned to celebrate this 28th birthday, but for known reasons, they have been canceled or postponed. We hope, in the coming months, to resume some of the nautical activities that allow us to enjoy the pleasure of sailing, fishing and dreaming of a better world.
Today the duty is to take care of ourselves and take care of others.

ARRIVES TO BARACOA Mr. ALVARO DE MARICHALAR SÁENZ DE TEJADA THE SPANISH NAVIGATOR
At 4:50 pm on Monday, March 2, the Spanish navigator Alvaro de Marichalar Sáenz de Tejada arrived in the Cuban city of Baracoa from Haiti, aboard his NUMANCIA jet ski. Commodore Escrich gave him, in the Porto Santo hotel of Gaviota Group, the warmest welcome to the intrepid Spanish navigator who included Cuba in the circumnavigation thats carries out of the globe in commemoration of the one initiated by Fernando de Magallanes on August 10, 1519 and concluded by Juan Sebastián Elcano 3 years and 22 days later.
The Hemingway International Yacht Club of Cuba supports the crossing of Mr. De Marichalar with a team of workers from this Cuban nautical institution, who will be waiting for him on the navigation along the north coast of Cuba, at the stops in Guardalavaca, Holguín province; Santa Lucia, province of Camagüey; Cayo Guillermo, province of Ciego de Avila; Marina Gaviota Varadero; Matanzas province, and Marina Hemingway; Havana.
After the trip through Cuba, the Spanish navigator will sail to Florida, United States. The crossing is done alone on board his jet ski, less than 3 meters in length. Before arriving in Cuba, he crossed the Atlantic accompanied by the French exploration vessel YERSIN. From Guadeloupe, in the Lesser Antilles, he sails alone making stops in Saint Barthelemy, St. Croix, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and Haiti where he was received by yacht clubs from those territories and countries. The autonomy of the boat is 200 nautical miles thanks to a supplementary fuel tank. Sail by day and rest at night on islands or on the coast, and sometimes drifting on his boat.
Alvaro de Marichalar told Excelencias del Motor that "getting to Cuba means honoring our common ancestors." He has visited Cuba on several occasions and says he knows the elegant city of Havana and most importantly, the wonderful and brother Cuban people who always gives him his strength and warmth when he lands in these lands. He expresses that to all this the intimate emotion and joy that all Spanish feels when he breathes the familiar air of Cuba. And, in addition, he points out that "there is the recent Fifth Centenary of Havana that fills my landfall in Cuba with historical magic."
Mr. de Marichalar hopes to share with Cubans his challenge and the motives that drive it.
He also hopes to film the Cuban coast to touristically promote the island of Cuba.
Numancia is the name of a missing population seven kilometers from the current Spanish city of Soria. The inhabitants of Numancia resisted the siege of the Roman Empire for months and preferred to commit suicide, in the summer of the year 133 BC. before surrendering to his attackers.
