Hello. I hope it's alright to post this here. But, my family is really hoping that someone can help... These pictures are of the boat and it's Captain, Benjamin Hartman, who departed on 2/21/2018 on a trip alone from Port Charlotte, FL to St. Augustine, FL. He was last seen in the Dry Tortuga's around the 27th of February. We would like for any in the area, if you have seen this boat or it's Captain, to PLEASE let us know. Please post or call the local authorities if you have seen him or the boat. This is a missing person's case and has been reported to the Coast Guard. And, please share this with anyone or place that you think could be of help. Thank you SO much in advance for your cooperation and help :0)

We are friends and international members of the Hemingway Yacht Club of Cuba. We are gathering new members and give a forum for the club in Cuba here.

[09/06/21]   Just checking to see who still see the page. Not much to post as of late. Hope this will change this winter. Please like the page of your still engaged. We will get back to posting any Intel we can.

[08/21/21]   Have not posted in a while not a lot of news from the club to relay. Just wish everyone to stay safe and hope relations will come back to a normal again.

[06/17/21]   Please read below. We have to support the club or it will no longer exist. Please reach out to the commodore and help in any way possible.

I am pleased to greet you very kindly on behalf of the Hemingway International Yacht Club of Cuba and on my own behalf, as well as to wish that you and your family are enjoying excellent health.

We are very pleased to express to you that we are very honored and proud by the friendly relationships that join us to you and the American boating community.

I would like to express to you that in the 29 years of existence of the Hemingway International Nautical Club of Cuba, to which it arrived on May 21, the main strength we have is the support and recognition of the international nautical community, which have been and are of vital importance and essential for the existence of this Cuban nautical institution.

Although we have achieved the recognition of some institutions of the Cuban maritime sector, still, as a result of the lack of understanding and support from people and government institutions, we do not have the necessary support and to add that the country does not have a policy defined on recreational boating.

Despite the situation described above, we remain committed to contributing to the development of recreational boating and to the rescue of the history and culture of the sea, almost lost in our country.

As we enter the 30th year of our Hemingway International Yacht Club of Cuba, it becomes more necessary than ever to receive your support and recognition, which becomes the most appreciated defense we have in order to survive in these difficult times our Yacht Club is going through.

The best expression of the international support that our Yacht Club has are the friendly relations with more than 700 associations and yacht clubs of the international nautical community, whose members have sent us dozens of certificates, diplomas, documents of recognitions, objects, plates, as well as hundreds of burgees that adorn the living room of our Club House, which constitute relics that symbolize the love of the sea and friendship between human beings. For this reason, today our Yacht Club is recognized as a Sanctuary of love for the sea and friendship between lovers of the sea and a Bastion in defense and rescue of nautical history and Cuban maritime and nautical traditions. It is our desire to continue enriching the exhibition of these presents, so that visitors can appreciate the growing support we are receiving from the international nautical community.

Let me to reiterate that our Yacht Club is going through a delicate situation and it is for this reason that we ask you to ask your friends and acquaintances from the nautical world to support us with messages of encouragement, recognition and friendship, for if the Hemingway International Nautical Club of Cuba disappear, leave a legacy to the people who appreciated it.

I take this opportunity to reiterate my warmest greetings and at the same time invite you to join us at the reception that we will provide on May 21, 2022, when our Yacht Club will reach its 30th Anniversary.

Sincerely,

Commodore Escrich

[05/18/21]   Dear Fruends Of Hemingway Internatioal Yacht Club

I am pleased to greet you very cordially on behalf of our Hemingway International Nautical Club of Cuba, as well as to share with you our joy and happiness on the occasion of the arrival of this Cuban nautical institution on its 29th anniversary this May 21.

We would have liked to have had the opportunity to celebrate with you and the other members of this Cuban nautical institution such an important event, but the complex situation of Covid-19 in the country and especially in Havana, prevents us from meeting. We hope that the pandemic will be a thing of the past next year and we will all meet at our Yacht Club headquarters.

I take this opportunity to reiterate my warmest greetings and to express to you the testimony of our highest esteem and distinguished consideration.

Sincerely,

THE HEMINGWAY INTERNATIONAL YACHT CLUB OF CUBA MARKS ITS 29th ANNIVERSARY

This Friday, May 21, 2021, the Hemingway International Yacht Club of Cuba; a place where the bonds of friendship forged by the sea are strengthened and which preserves the history and maritime traditions, celebrates its 29th Anniversary thanks to the collaboration and support of the international nautical community. Your recognition of our Yacht Club, and your continued support to this Cuban nautical institution, Sanctuary of love for the sea and friendship between lovers of the sea" and "Bastion in defense and rescue of the history and maritime and nautical traditions of our country, has made its existences possible.

Today, we have the privilege and honor of representing the most important cruising and angler associations in the world, as well as having been granted the status of Honorary Membership in dozens of yacht clubs and nautical institutions, breaking the isolation of Cuba from the global nautical community.

Over 29 years, we have sponsored diverse nautical, sports-recreational, academic and educational events that have allowed us to share expertise and ideas with representatives of the nautical community from dozens of countries, including Cuba. Through sharing we have established and strengthened friendship and respect between people of different beliefs, ideologies and social status. It is the love the sea which unites us and overcomes the differences that the society imposes on us.

In our mission to contribute to the preservation of our nautical history and maritime traditions, the Yacht Club continues in its endeavor to strengthen the ties of friendship and collaboration with the people, entities and institutions of our country, which have ties or an affinity with the sea. HIYC continues to celebrate and support the sponsorship of events and activities aimed at preserving the "Culture of the Sea" as part of the “Cultural Heritage of the Cuban Nation”.

Today, the Hemingway International Nautical Club of Cuba is proud to be made up of a family of 3,590 members, from 73 countries, many of whom have sent us encouraging messages of solidarity, hope and optimism in the midst of the devastating pandemic of Covid-19, which has generated so much sadness, uncertainty and suffering, but has also taught us the great value of solidarity and love in times of adversity.

[04/11/21]   Always had to help any Mariner or family members. Cnih de Cuba and the Commodore have been friends of us for over 20 years. I am proud to be a member. He also helped me when on a sailing boat we sheared a rudder and had to pull into the port of Camaguey.

I contacted the Commodores daughter Lizet via satellite phone and she in turn the Commodore and when we reached the port all help was available. This network with the club in Cuba has been of great assistance to any boater going to the island. Join the club!!!!

[03/05/21]   Does anyone have any information on possible changes to the current visitation policy’s between the US and Cuba? Is there any relaxation on the horizon?

[01/20/21]   I would like to thank all who have visited and liked this page. Maybe now the regulations will change so we can celebrate the brotherhood of the sea. It is the sea that joins us not divides us. Please like and forward this page to your friends.

MARINA HEMINGWAY OPENED AT THE ARRIVAL OF FOREIGN PLEASURE BOATS

We gladly inform our members and those of the international nautical community from the headquarters of the Hemingway International Yacht Club of Cuba that Marina Hemingway has been open to the arrival of foreign pleasure boats.

With this new opening, Marina Hemingway joins Marina Gaviota Varadero, both in the north of Cuba, and Marina Marlin Santiago de Cuba, Marina Marlin Cayo Largo del Sur and Marina Marlin Cienfuegos, in the south of the island, in welcoming foreign pleasure boats.

The Hemingway International Yacht Club of Cuba, SANCTUARY of love for the sea and friendship between people who love the sea and BASTIÓN in defense and rescue of Cuban history and nautical traditions, will feel very happy and honored to receive back in its headquarters to its members and those of the international nautical community.

Best regards,

Commodore Escrich

EPIDEMIOLOGICAL PROTOCOL FOR FOREIGN VESSELS ARRIVING TO THE CUBAN MARINAS

Before arriving a boat, coming from another country, to a Cuban international marina, the Dock Master asks the captain about the health of the crew, who must inform if there are any sick crew members or if they are all healthy.

Once the vessel reaches a marina, the captain and crew are questioned. All crew members have their temperatures taken and tested for Covid-19 (PCR). The result of the PCR takes 24 to 48 hours. If any crew member has respiratory or subjective symptoms of Covid-19, he is hospitalized. The boat and the rest of the crew will be in quarantine until the results of the test are available. If the patient tests positive for Covid-19; he is hospitalized and the rest of the crew is transferred to an isolation center.

The healthy crew, who were admitted to the marina, have to remain on board the vessel until the results of the Covid-19 test are available. If the PCR are negative for all crew members, each one has to inform where they will stay, for epidemiological surveillance. For this epidemiological surveillance, the 10 days are counted from the date of departure from the last port or marina where they were.

[10/31/20]   PROHIBITION OF PERMANENCE AND NAVIGATION TO FOREIGN RECREATIONAL VESSELS IN CUBAN TERRITORIAL WATERS RAISED

With immense joy and satisfaction I greet you on behalf of the Hemingway International Yacht Club of Cuba and on my own behalf.

Yesterday, our Yacht Club received a copy of Resolution 269 of the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Cuba, issued on 19 of this month, which establishes the opening of recreational navigation of foreign vessels by our territorial sea, as well as the beginning of the operations of the international marinas, in the provinces that are in the phase of the "New Normality".

Until today, foreign pleasure boats that wish to sail to Cuba may access our country through the following international marinas:

South coast:

Marina Marlin Santiago de Cuba (Santiago de Cuba province), Marina Marlin Cienfuegos (Cienfuegos Province) and Marina Marlin Cayo Largo del Sur

North Coast:

Marina Gaviota Varadero (Matanzas province). In the case of the Marina Marlin Hemingway (Havana province), it is still closed because the Cuban capital is in the Third Phase. We hope that in the next few days Havana will pass to the phase of the New Normality in which Marina Hemingway will begin to serve foreign vessels that arrive here.

In addition to Marina Marlin Hemingway, Marina Gaviota Vita (Holguín province) is closed.

From the Hemingway International Yacht Club of Cuba we will inform immediately when Havana is included in the New Normality and foreign pleasure boats can sail to Marina Marlin Hemingway and dock here.

For our part, we are very anxious to have the wonderful opportunity to welcome all our members and those of the international nautical community who arrive at the Cuban Marinas at the headquarters of our Yacht Club.

Happy sailing,

[10/14/20]   From the Commodore;

To the members of the Hemingway International Yacht Club of Cuba and to those of the International Nautical Community:

With immense satisfaction and optimism I greet you on behalf of our Cuban nautical institution and on my own behalf.

After 7 months without being able to enjoy the sea in the company of our family and friends due to the pandemic that is hitting the world and that has caused many deaths, suffering and fears and to which is added an immense impact on the economy of many countries; We are close to clearing the stormy horizon and lights of optimism begin to emerge that are announcements of an awakening full of happiness for those of us who love the practice of recreational nautical activities.

In Cuba, after an absolute immobility in the tourist marinas, we prepare ourselves, so that with the opening of them, in the next few days, we can go sailing, fishing and dreaming with the stars as witnesses, defending our right and passion to be friends of the sea; and together a sea of friends.

With my best regards,,

Commodore Escrich
