Akrotiri Martial Arts Centre

Hello! Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is John Idle and I'm the new OIC of Akrotiri Martial Arts Centre. I'd like to thank outgoing OIC Robin Stait for doing such valuable work during his tenure. Thanks Robin. Great job!

In my day job I'm head of DIO in Cyprus, but I'm also a life-long martial arts enthusiast having originally begun my MA career in Judo in the early 1970s. I switched to Ju-jitsu in 1978 and have practiced JJ ever since. I've also practiced TKD, Full contact kick-boxing, boxing and Iaido along the way.

My mission is to build on my predecessors' great work and continue to ensure we have excellent facilities and mentors available within British Forces Cyprus (BFC) to practice a wide range of fine martial arts.

Dear members.

It has just been brought to my attention about clubs on the SBA.

All activity in any recreational sporting or social club is to cease with immediate effect.This will be reviewed on a weekly basis.

Until further direction is released no one is to utilise the martial arts club for any lessons / training.

I will follow the situation and update again once this stipulation has been lifted.

Apologies for any inconvenience.

Exciting news 😁 6th Dan UK Judo Coach and Brown Belt BJJ coach is visiting Akrotiri Judo Club here at the Akrotiri Martial Arts Centre. Dave will be running Judo Seminars alongside judo training and he hopes to get in some BJJ practice too. if any BJJ or Judo players are interested just message us to arrange.

Judo = Mrs Julie Hemsley.
Taekwondo = Mr Jason Ainsley
Pilates = Mrs Fiona Gelner

For further information on any of the classes please message.

Unfortunately we can't find a suitable venue for our Taekwon-do class so they are cancelled til furthur notice. We are hoping to get them running again some time in November, depending on when the contractors give us part of our building back. Sorry for the inconvenience and we'll keep you updated.

All Taekwon-do students,

Classes will now be in the main gym on camp due to our building being closed for refurb. Same timings however due to the issues with the gym floor mats have to be put down so if you can get there a little early to put the mats out it'll mean no delay in class starting.

Ladies and Gents,

Hope you all had a great summer but it's now time to get back to training 💪 Taekwondo classes are on Wednesdays at 1700 for kids and 1800 for adults.

To keep as up to date as possible with Taekwon-do news please request to join A.C.E Taekwon-do W.S.B.A.

A.C.E student handbooks will be ordered this week cost is €26 inc P+P.

A must for any serious student.

Taekwondo fees due tomorrow. Mr Ainley is taking payments as I can't be there. Please bring exact money as we can't give any change. Fees are €22.50 this month due to missing a week for half term.
