This coming September in Nicosia (from12/9 until 15/9) study Aerial Yoga All Levels (Beginners, Intermediate, Advance).

Aerial Yoga is a combination of the traditional Hatha Yoga Asanas, aerial flow and fitness dynamics. This combination, apart from offering well-being, helps us overcome our fears of being upside down, the fear of anti-gravitation and floating. Practicing Aerial Yoga is sort of a game which challenges and invigorates. It opens up new doors as to how you can work with your own body weight.

Using a hammock as a tool in supporting the weight of the body, you will learn how to enter, perform and exit Yoga Asanas, Yoga Asanas variations, strength & flexibility enhancement poses, floating, flying and inverted poses. You will learn the pros and cons of Aerial Yoga, its history, how to flip and swing, and how to sequence a class.

Upon completion of the program, a written and practical examination will be carried out.

SUP (stand-up paddleboard) yoga, combines yoga poses with a variation of stand-up paddleboard surfing. The sport incorporates hatha and vinyasa poses on a 10 to 12-foot paddleboard. It is practiced on a calm body of water. SUP yoga unites the sport of stand-up paddleboarding, which originated in Hawaii, USA in the 1940s, with the ancient practice of yoga, which has its roots in India. In the short time SUP Yoga has existed, it has grown to include devotees worldwide. Practicing yoga on a surface that is moving – like the paddleboard – engages the core muscles and strengthens other muscles which wouldn’t otherwise be used in earth-bound practice. SUP yoga also requires intense focus because transitioning between poses requires concentration to keep the board steady.

Common asanas included in SUP yoga practice are downward-facing dog, the cat-cow combination, child’s pose and co**se pose. Skilled yogis may attempt challenging standing asanas such as tree pose, warrior one and warrior two. A unique benefit of this style of yoga, as compared with traditional types of yoga, is refinement of one’s technique because slight misalignments result in a dip in the water.
