One round to go!

The title is clearly in Darja Varfolomeev's hands, she is on a roll and making her D advantage count. Boryana Kaleyn with an extremely good performance, too, giving chase, and Sofia Raffaeli recovers from her big mistake and is virtual third.

RIBBON, THE LAST ROTATION!

Domingos. Some more show! She is a crowd favourite, for a good reason! Rocky start, very nice recovery, 29.100 and 123.100 for a total.

Atamanov. Given how much she was struggling with injuries this cycle, this is impressive. 33.000 finish, GOOD, 133.850, EVEN BETTER. Good showing!

Kolosov. "Dream on, dream on, dream until the dream come true". Not her strongest apparatus, but she positioned herself extremely well for the last round. HITS, FIST ON THE GROUND, SHE IS LYING THERE, SMILING, ELATED. Super performance today! 32.550 is VERY GOOD, 135.250, and Sofia Raffaeli needs 31.200+ to keep bronze (at least).

Vedeneeva. So, so cultured and elegant gymnastics. She finishes and she starts sobbing on the floor in the end pose, as does her coach beside the carpet. Huge emotions here. 32.700 for a beautiful ribbon, 131.900 total. And now she's beaming. Great final for the doyenne of the field!

Baldassarri. Calm and measured, as she usually is. She checks out from her second Olympic final with 31.450, total 129.700, she can be very proud of this. Not many gymnasts make 2 Olympic finals!

Wang Zilu. Great showing so far today. It goes well until the end, then MISTAKE, drop, adjustment ah this is cruel. The very end went wrong. But she had a great final! 29.300, 131.550. Top six, here we go! Inquiry. Unchanged.

Kaleyn. She gave herself a chance. Podium is extremely likely, gold is possible. She needs to hit this, then it is a likely silver and maybe she gets lucky. She needs this a LOT. SHE HITS, and then lies on the carpet in the end pose, SHE HAS PLAYED HER HEART OUT. Beautiful performance, worthy of a medal! It's either silver or gold. Boryana goes into the lead! 33.750, 140.600 total!

Onofriichuk. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! One of the most fun routines of the whole year, it's such a joy! 32.950, great finish, 128.400 total! At this moment, Boryana Kaleyn guaranteed a medal.

Varfolomeev. She has a +2.300 lead, that's a lot, even though Kaleyn scored higher yesterday with ribbon. After Kaleyn's big ribbon score, she needs 31.45+. SHE HITS! SHE HITS! WHAT A COMPETITOR! She had troubles all year with consistently, then she hits 4/4 in the final, and her superior difficulty will probably be the difference between her and Boryana! HER REACTION SHOWS SHE KNOWS! 33.700, 142.850, DESERVED OLYMPIC CHAMPION, AND A DESERVED SILVER, TOO!

Raffaeli. She bounced back very well after her ball mistake, but that mistake probably cost her gold chance. All the gymnasts watching her by the stage. OH NO, DROP, WHY JUST WHY??? Is it still enough? She is better with ribbon than Kolosov. 32.250, ENOUGH, SOFIA RAFFAELI HAS 136.600 AND IS BRONZE MEDALIST!

The first ever German Olympic champion in RG, the tied best individual result for Bulgaria, and the first podium finish for Italy in individual!

Thank you for all the gymnasts competing in Paris, all the coaches and staff working with them, this was a spectacle! Very different styles, very different approaches, fantastic final from both Varfolomeev and Kaleyn, playing on their strengths and going all the way! A rather clean cut result, Varfolomeev capitalising on superior D (75.1 to 74.1) and better clubs routine. They played their hearts out! Congratulations!
