This summer, Araina Sinha, travelled to her home country 🇮🇳for the holidays — and brought back two amazing results:

🥇 Gold medal at the Mini and Child State Fencing Championship (2025-2026)

🥉 Bronze medal at the Mini and Child National Fencing Championship 🇮🇳 (2025-2026)

Araina trains all year round at Achilleas Fencing Club in Cyprus 🇨🇾 — and her achievements fill us with joy and pride. Watching our athletes carry their passion for fencing across countries and continue to grow wherever they go… it’s priceless.

🤺The last tournament of the season and one of the most prestigious events for these age categories — and our athletes delivered!

🥇 In the U15 category, Sofia Garanina took 1st place after an incredible series of bouts, showing true willpower and character.

🥉 In the U13 category, Alesya Malodchina reached the top 8, placing 7th overall, missing the top 4 by just two touches.

Two fencers from Cyprus — and both came home with a result.
We are truly proud beyond words! 💙

🇨🇾 Παγκόσμιο Τουρνουά στο Παρίσι | 28–29 Ιουνίου
Το τελευταίο τουρνουά της σεζόν και ένα από τα πιο σημαντικά για αυτές τις ηλικιακές κατηγορίες — και οι αθλήτριές μας ήταν εξαιρετικές!

🥇 Στην κατηγορία U15 η Σοφία Γκαράνινα κατέκτησε την 1η θέση, δείχνοντας απίστευτη θέληση και δύναμη χαρακτήρα.

🥉 Στην κατηγορία U13 η Αλεσία Μαλοντίνα μπήκε στην 8άδα, καταλαμβάνοντας την 7η θέση, χάνοντας την τετράδα μόλις για δύο χτυπήματα.

Δύο αθλήτριες από την Κύπρο — και οι δύο με αποτέλεσμα!
Δεν υπάρχουν λόγια για το πόσο υπερήφανοι είμαστε! 💙

📍 Fencing Tournament 🇷🇸 Zrenjanin, Serbia
📅 11 May 2025
An intense and unforgettable day of fencing! 🔥
Our club was represented by 10 foil fencers across 4 age categories — and what a performance it was!
🗡️ EFC U14 Girls opened the day:
* Sofia Garanina went undefeated in the pools, fought her way to the final, and took 🥇1st place after a confident victory over a fencer from Hungary.
* Alina Gorskova showed strong spirit and determination, but unfortunately didn’t make it past the pool round — we believe her success is just ahead!
🗡️ U10 Girls & Boys followed:
* Sinha Araina (our only girl in this category) fenced bravely, with 2 victories in the pool and narrowly missed the Top 8.
* Among the boys, Hanukaev Adir also had 2 victories in the pool and both just missed the quarterfinals.
* Shamas Stefan advanced from the pools but lost in the round of 16.
* And the best result came from Filipp Veselov, who took 🥉3rd place — an incredible achievement at his first major international competition!
🗡️ U12 Boys brought more excitement:
* * * Vlad Motorov and Artem Perehozhev both made it into the Top 8, finishing in 6th and 7th place respectively.
* * * * * * * * * Jiazongqi Chang fenced well and lost to Artem in the bout for the Top 8.
🗡️ Finally, in the U17 Girls:
* * * * * * * * * * * * * Kamila Abdykerova and Gorskova Alina didn’t make it past the pools but showed real courage and character on the piste.
* * Sofia Garanina once again led the way with a perfect pool, entered the Top 8 and finished 5th, losing the bout for the Top 4.

📍 Cadet & Junior World Championships 🇨🇳 Wuxi, China
📅 10–11 April 2025

This trip marked the end of the 2024–2025 season for cadets and juniors — and what a season it was!

Only one athlete represented Cyprus 🇨🇾 at the World Championships — Elizaveta Kopyltsova.
On April 10, in the **U20 category**, Elizaveta showed determination and spirit, narrowly losing to a fencer from Great Britain **15:11** for top 64
On April 11, in the **U17 category**, she advanced to the **Top 32** and was stopped just short of the Top 16 by an opponent from Canada.

This season was full of milestones and proud moments:
✨ For the first time ever, Cyprus was represented by a **women’s foil team** at a Cadet World Cup — **Elizaveta Kopyltsova, Sofia Garanina, and Alesia Malodchyna** placed **7th out of 23 teams**, showing courage and team spirit.
🥉 And the highlight of the season — **Elizaveta’s bronze medal at the Cadet European Championships** — an incredible achievement for her and for Cypriot fencing.

Elizaveta finishes the cadet season ranked ❗️6th in the overall European standings.
Step by step, season by season — we are moving forward with confidence and passion. 💪
And in the upcoming season, our mindset is clear: we are aiming for victory — at both the European and World Championships. 💥

📍 World School Gymnasiade U15 🇷🇸 Zlatibor, Serbia
📅 4–14 April 2025

10 unforgettable days full of fencing, sport, discovery, and new friendships!

Sofia Garanina and Stefani Polykarpou were part of a large Cypriot 🇨🇾 delegation at the World School Gymnasiade — an incredible international event for school athletes under 15.

🤺 Sofia Garanina became the first fencer to represent Cyprus at a competition of this scale — and what a debut it was! After a series of strong performances, she reached the final and earned an impressive 2nd 🥈 place, falling just short against the athlete from China.

The following days were filled with cultural and social activities, as well as unforgettable opening and closing ceremonies — a true celebration of youth and sport!

Huge thanks to the Cyprus Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth and the Cyprus Sports Organization for fully covering the participation and making this journey possible🙏

🌍 The Cadet World Cup in Cabriès gathered the strongest U17 foil fencers from all over the world! Representing our club, Elizaveta Kopyltsova competed with great effort and determination, showing her skill and gaining valuable experience.
✨ Elizaveta’s results:
💥 Advanced from the group stage with 4 victories and 2 losses.
💥 For the Top 128: Secured a convincing win against a German fencer.
💥 For the Top 64: Fought well but did not advance further in the tournament.
We are proud of Elizaveta’s hard work and perseverance! 💪 Every competition is a chance to grow and move closer to success.

🌍 Το Παγκόσμιο Κύπελλο στο Cabriès συγκέντρωσε τις πιο δυνατές αθλήτριες U17 ξιφασκίας από όλο τον κόσμο! Εκπροσωπώντας τον σύλλογό μας, η Elizaveta Kopyltsova αγωνίστηκε με μεγάλη προσπάθεια και αποφασιστικότητα, δείχνοντας τις ικανότητές της και αποκτώντας πολύτιμες εμπειρίες.
✨ Αποτελέσματα της Elizaveta:
💥 Προκρίθηκε από τον πρώτο γύρο με 4 νίκες και 2 ήττες.
💥 Για την πρόκριση στις 128: Επικράτησε με άνεση απέναντι σε αθλήτρια από τη Γερμανία.
💥 Για την πρόκριση στις 64: Έδωσε τον καλύτερο εαυτό της, αλλά δεν κατάφερε να προχωρήσει περαιτέρω στο τουρνουά.

🌍 A remarkable milestone for our young fencers at the Rapir Fencing Cup in Zagreb! This event was especially significant as it marked the first participation of our youngest athletes in the U9 category. Here’s how they performed:

* Diana Savluk : 6th place — a fantastic performance showcasing her potential.
* Stefan Shamas : 7th place — impressive resilience and skill.

Our club is honored to have Alina Gorskova , who represented Latvia in this tournament. This was Alina’s first-ever competition, and she performed admirably, earning respect and admiration from everyone. Congratulations on a memorable debut!

📍 European Championship U17 Women’s Foil 🇹🇷 Antalya, Turkey

🌍 Our young and talented fencers from the Cyprus Fencing Club Achilleas made history at the European Championship in Antalya! Representing Cyprus with pride, Elizaveta Kopyltsova and Sofia Garanina showcased incredible skill, determination, and sportsmanship. Here’s how they performed:

✨ Elizaveta Kopyltsova:
* ✨ Preliminary pool: 5 wins out of 6 matches → Advanced directly to the elimination rounds.
* 💪 Elimination rounds: Defeated fencers from Great Britain, Hungary, Poland, and Turkey.
* 🥉 Final result: 3rd place — an INCREDIBLE achievement!

This is not just Elizaveta’s first medal but also Cyprus’ first-ever medal at an European Championship. A historic moment for our club and country! 🎉

✨ Sofia Garanina (13 years old):
* ✨ Preliminary pool: 3 wins out of 5 matches → Secured a spot in the elimination rounds.
* ❌ Lost to a Turkish opponent (15:10) in the Top 32 battle. This opponent went on to become the European Champion of this tournament.
* 🏆 Final result: 41st place out of 80 participants (27 countries). Despite her young age, Sofia competed with resilience and showed great promise for the future.

🎯 This success would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our coaches Berkaeva Zalina and Falina Olga, whose guidance and dedication were instrumental in preparing our athletes. Huge thanks also go to the parents and families for their constant encouragement and belief in our fencers.
