Hello everyone!

I am currently on paternity leave and in between studios. Since the move depends on factors outside my control (workmen, builders, etc.), it has not gone as smoothly as I had hoped.

In the meantime, I will soon be offering a limited number of private yoga sessions at home for one or two people, and I will also begin a couple of online sessions so that we can maintain our practice together.

For now, I am unable to offer acupuncture sessions, but I hope this will be remedied within the next few weeks.

I am hoping that the Yoga Health Centre will be fully up and running in its new location by September!

Thank you for your understanding,
Richard

What is Hatha yoga?

When we think about yoga an image might come to mind of an individual sitting in blissful meditation, the pinnacle of yoga practice, which is called “Samadhi” (this means liberation, realisation of the truth of reality, dissolution into the oneness of being etc etc…)

However, although this may be the ideal conception of yoga it is not Hatha yoga. It is called Raja yoga, or, the yoga of the kings/queens. Sitting quietly controlling the volatile fluctuations of the mind, with the inner vision of the mind, until the fluctuations cease and Samadhi is attained is both the practice and the goal of Raja yoga.

What about the ordinary human? How is it possible for the common person to sit still for hours, comfortably on the floor, let alone be able to control the mind from its constant thinking? You are welcome to try it and see how that goes for you. To our rescue comes Hatha yoga, a series of postures that require balance, flexibility and strength all relating to the control of the physical body as opposed to the mind in Raja yoga.

The postures are called Asanas and, just like Raja yoga, the goal is Samadhi but it is achieved by complete focus on the physical movements, postures and the flow of breathing. The mind is for all intents and purposes ignored and its incessant wandering and meandering is overcome!

Hello Yogis!

I trust you have all had an excellent August and are ready to return to the usual yoga routine (I know I am!). I wanted to try something new this summer and I had my first introduction to scuba diving. I’ll admit that I am not very good with being confined or being in places hostile to human life, but it was actually rather relaxing.

Today the Centre resumes the usual timetable for yoga classes:

Monday 6-7 pm and 7-8:30 pm

Wednesday 7-8:30 pm

Friday 6-7 pm and 7-8:30 pm

Saturday 10-11:30 am

Those regulars feel free to join if you are back and ready, while those of you that have yet to try my class please give me a call (Richard) 99639300 and we can discuss how best to proceed with your yoga experience.

And of course if you are in need of Acupuncture treatments then call or text me to organise an appointment (Richard 99639300).

Acupuncture can help a plethora of issues including but not limited to: Stress (from work or more acute life events), Migraines/Headaches, Pain (osteoarthritis knee pain, and other chronic pain) Sleep disorders, depression and/or anxiety, Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). It is also useful to the average person to have regular treatments for maintenance and to prevent any worsening of niggling issues.

Hello everyone,

I was down with the Corona virus last week... I have tested negative over the weekend and this morning so we can begin our yoga sessions again this evening (usually I am closed for public holidays but today we will make an exception).

I hope you are all as excited as I am :D

For those who are new to yoga or would like to try a session then you are welcome to come and try one of the classes at 6pm on Mondays or Fridays.

Hello everyone,

There won't be a class tonight as I am sick! 😖 Hopefully I will have recovered for Wednesday (26th) but I will post again to confirm.

I managed to go to some yoga classes while away and my favourite was by a Scaravelli teacher, because we were accompanied by Lancelotto an adorable yoga dog!!!
