BRYAN FLETCHER WINS FINAL RACE OF THE SEASON, JASON LAMY CHAPPUIS TAKES THE OVERALL

OSLO (NOR) , 10 March 2012 - Bryan Fletcher from the USA is the winner of this season's final Individual Gundersen competition in Oslo, Norway. Mikko Kokslien (NOR) ranked second, Taihei Kato (JPN) finished third. Jason Lamy Chappuis finally claimed the overall victory.

After the ski jumping part, Taihei Kato was in the lead with a 38-second advantage ahead of Tino Edelmann (GER) and today's winner Bryan Fletcher (USA) who was 39 seconds behind. The planned second round of jumping had to be cancelled because of unfair conditions of the inrun. Therefore, the competition format had to be changed from a traditional Gundersen (2 jumps, 15 km) to a regular Gundersen race (1 jump, 10 km).

During the cross-country race, Bryan Fletcher caught Taihei Kato and went for victory while Mikko Kokslien came from behind to claim second place. Akito Watabe, second in the overall, finished seventh, Jason Lamy Chappuis right behind him in eight spot.

JAN SCHMID WINS INDIVIDUAL GUNDERSEN IN LAHTI

LAHTI (FIN), 3 March 2012 - Jan Schmid (NOR) was able to win today's DKB FIS Nordic Combined World Cup Individual Gundersen competition in Lahti. Tino Edelmann (GER) and Johannes Rydzek (GER) claimed the second and third rank. In the overall ranking, Jason Lamy Chappuis is still in the lead with a comfortable 164-point advantage but wasn't able to claim the trophy just yet.

Due to the difficult wind conditions, no ski jumping was possible and Thursday's PCR results had to be used. For the cross-country race, PCR-winner Haavard Klemetsen had a three-second advantage ahead of Germany's Tino Edelmann and Wilhelm Denifl who was 8 seconds back. At that time, today's winner Jan Schmid ranked 12th with a time difference of 40 seconds.

In the cross-country race, Edelmann took the lead in a small group consisting of him, Klemetsen and Denifl and was able break away in the second lap. The pursuers with athletes like Akito Watabe and Bryan Fletcher caught up with Klemetsen and Denifl shortly after and formed a big pursuing group. In the last lap, Jan Schmid followed by Johannes Rydzek managed to break away from this group and overtake Tino Edelmann at the final ascent. He crossed the finish line with a 4.3-second advantage ahead of Edelmann and Rydzek who finished 5.3 seconds back.

The DKB FIS Nordic Combined World Cup will go on with an Individual Gundersen and the Final Individual Gundersen competition next weekend.
