The Elitewheels DRIVE SL takes the trend toward wider road wheels pretty far. With a 25mm internal width and up to 35.6mm external width, they’re designed around 30mm+ tires rather than traditional narrow road setups.
After testing the 58mm version, I found them stiff, comfortable, and especially stable in crosswinds. Speed maintenance was also close to the Toccay Aero 60mm, although the wider and heavier U-shaped profile felt slightly slower at the highest speeds. The biggest limitation is tire clearance—you’ll definitely want to check your frame before running these with 32mm tires. Overall, they scored 4.3/5 in my testing.
Are road wheels getting too wide, or is this the direction you want to see them go?
