Yoga Sutra 1.35
viṣayavatī vā pravṛttir-utpannā manasaḥ sthiti-nibandhinī

This sutra focuses on steadying the mind by developing subtle sensory perceptions. Patanjali explains that when a yogi focus intensely on a physical sense, it unlocks a deeper, subtle experience that anchors the awareness and removes doubt about the practice.

The yogi/yogini do not need to chase mystical experiences to benefit from this verse. He/she/they can apply it by turning a standard physical sensation into a hyper-focused meditative anchor.

The main focusing object of the awareness should come from nature and from the cosmos. Not something made by human which looses the unique qualities that we see in the nature. It also includes own breath, sensation in the body etc.

This Thirupugzhal 1053 composed & sung by sage Arunagirinathar has a unique significance. When challenged by Sampanthandan in the Court of King Prapuda Dhevarajan at Thiruvannamalai, Arunagiri sang this song describing the dances of the entire universe and the Gods. At the utterance of this line, Lord Murugan appeared before him in the Court, in a dancing form, with dancing peacock and His Spear to the delight of the King and all those present.

Performed by and her team at Berlin-Germany 🇩🇪 for Sri Subrahmanyam Thirukalyanam on 6th August 2026.
