When you grow up in a society that constantly tells you that you have to be careful when you walk at night, you have to be careful not to stare back in the eyes, that you should pay attention to the way you are dressed or to who is following you, changing the narrative and developing your self-confidence thanks to combat sports and martial arts is an act of rebellion.
While we wait for society to change into a place where equality matters, and where aggressive behaviours will not be tolerated or encouraged anymore, feel free to PM to learn how to fight back!

No attacker is too big.
And you are never too small to defend yourself.
The purpose of learning self defence is exactly to acquire the knowledge that, no matter how disadvantaged from a size perspective you might be, there is always a way to overcome your attacker.
As for everything else in life, there are no limits to what you can achieve with practice and dedication.
(This was the first class where the student attempted this technique ⚡)

When I ask my students about what is a situation they are really afraid of, a quite common answer is that they are afraid of being kidnapped while walking home at night.
In this video I am showing an effective technique against someone trying to grab you and covering your mouth at the same time (you can see the flow in the first part, and the breakdown in the second part ot the video)
Paradoxically, the hand that covers the mouth is also a key point to get out of this bad situation: while with one hand you pull the attacker's fingers (go full power in a real life scenario), with the other hand you control his elbow.
At the same time, you are blocking his leg (on the same side of the hand that is covering your mouth) by taking a step behind him.
You then pivit on the elbow you are controlling and you take down the attacker.
Many thanks to K. who helped me with this demonstration. We tried the technique several time while applying resistance to make sure it works against a bigger and heavier attacker.

Developing good striking skills is essential in a self defence situation and in general in a real fight scenario.
Striking allows you not only to inflict big damages to the aggressor, but also (differently for example from grappling, joint locks and throws) to create a distance between you and the attacker and to hit multiple opponents at once.
Learn to know your body and its possibilities by implementing a traing routine that explores different types of strikes.
