During my meniscus injury and the surgery a year ago, I never imagined I would sit again in Padmasana or try to work or practice Marichyasana D. Throughout the injury and recovery process, I completely gave up the idea of attempting postures that required putting my knee under pressure or at risk.

Letting go — and accepting my practice as a gift rather than an achievement — became one of the most profound realizations of my life.

And yet, life surprised me.

Today, I experience my knee as if it had never been injured. Postures I once believed were no longer available to me are now part of my practice again. Not only can I work on them — I can genuinely enjoy them.

I’m not sharing this from ego or to seek attention. I’m sharing it to remind anyone who is navigating pain or injury that surrender can be transformative. In my case, letting go was the key that allowed my practice to evolve into the joy I experience today.

What I feel most deeply is gratitude — and pride. Pride for what I have cultivated through years of discipline, patience, and devotion. Pride for the human being I have become through this path of body, mind, and soul.

Yoga has shaped me far beyond the physical postures. And for that, I am profoundly thankful.
