I almost didn’t post this...
I don’t want to overthink it. I just want to get it out. Here goes:
I know what it’s like not to be able to hide your illness.
I also know what it’s like to work so hard at being healed and whole that you don’t realize you overshot the mark a long time ago.
I’ve run the gamut—from clueless overeating, to weighing lettuce, to fasting for 36 hours and then chasing PRs in CrossFit classes.
From never feeling fit enough to finally feeling healthy, whole, and accepted.
I’ve also been sober for more than 20 years, and over time I began to understand that recovery had to include my body too.
These days I’m able to maintain my weight while still pursuing strength and mobility goals, with 60 starting to peek around the corner.
Along the way, I learned a lot about what it means to walk by faith, to grow in trust, and to hold tenaciously to hope.
But I also learned how to balance that faith with current science and with habits that help form me into the life God has called me to live.
The change wasn’t fast, and it wasn’t perfect. But it lasted.
Along the way, I became a personal trainer and nutrition coach. I’ve run the Berlin Marathon, built strength into my 50s, and made movement a normal part of my life instead of something I constantly have to “start over.”
That experience is a big part of why I now help other people do the same: rebuild strength, improve their health, and create practices that can survive real life.
If that sounds like where you are right now, comment CHANGE or send me a message.
