✨OPEN CALL: LOW-COST RESIDENCY AT KATAPULT

Need space to bring your next performance project to life?

We're offering 3 one-week residencies at Katapult for just €50 each.

#1 Residency: 24.-28.08.2026 in Studio 2 (aerial productions/cyr or chinese pole)

#2 Residency: 16.-20.11.2026 in Studio 1 (circus and contemporary dance productions)

#3 Residency: 7.-11.12.2026 in Studio 1 (circus productions)

Who can apply?
🎪 Professional performing artists from all backgrounds and circus disciplines who are based in Berlin.

What you'll need:
• Fill out the application form
• Submit one of the following:
– a trailer
– a one-page project description incl. 1 photo
– or a max. 1min video explaining the idea

Apply until 04.08. at 14:00 o’clock.
We’ll inform the three selected projects on 06.08. via e-mail.

Katapult closes after 10 years 💔

It's with great sadness that we announce the closure of Katapult at the end of December 2026 after 10 years.

We are extremely happy with what has been accomplished in the last decade. See our last few posts about - 10 years of Katapult in numbers. We strongly believe in the value of cultural and creative spaces and want to thank everyone, who used the space and collaborated with us in the past decade.

On the other hand, we still have 5 months to create interesting projects, events and facilitate residencies. Therefore, we encourage you to use the space to it's fullest.

How does it work? No pre-sign up needed. Come to the office or ask for the responsible person and you’ll get an introduction into the space.

The first time you’ll have to become a member. It costs 10€ and includes the first day of training. Afterwards drop-in is 7€, or 5€/session with a 10x times card. If you have Urban Sports, Wellpass or Wellhub, you can also use that for open training and the jam sessions.

10 years of Katapult 🎉 10 years of art and culture 🎭

Over the past weeks we looked back at what 10 years of running a circus space means in numbers.
In today's post we especially want to focus on the human part of facilitating a place for encounters, connections & community work.

When we moved and opened the location in Schöneweide in 2018, many people from the local circus scene gave a helping hand, donated material and money in the crowd funding campaign. Thanks a lot! We did not forget about that fact all these years.

We also want to thank all our lovely audience members, the fantastic team and humans, who helped running and facilitating the space with us & every artist, producer and dreamer, who used the space to make their ideas come reality. There is nothing more beautiful than seeing an idea coming into reality.

We especially want to thank our team of 5 people working in the office, 15 open training volunteers, 3 freelance technicians, 4 people volunteering regularly at show nights, 2 volunteer photopraphers, 2 people helping with cleaning the space. Your work is important, seen & very much appreciated. Thank you for being part of the team!

We also want to thank the Senat of Berlin (Senatsverwaltung für Kultur und Gesellschaftlichen Zusammenhalt) for financial support over the past 8 years, which helped us keeping the prices on the same level since 2018 & operating at a professional level with a small team of employees (1,5 full time equivalent in hours, spread over 5 people).

Our 10 year anniversary celebration will take place on 10th and 11th of October. Save the date!

What started with a very strong focus on being a hub for the contemporary juggling scene, turned over the years into a space for the broader contemporary dance and circus community. Especially in the last years, we have a huge aerial community hanging out at Katapult.
