Lauren Saphir was named Best in Class in the 0.5 classification at the WR5s Premiership in Aylesbury on Sunday.

Lauren showed exactly how important the bench can be in wheelchair rugby, coming on with energy, working hard, and disrupting the rhythm of the opposition. Her defensive impact was huge, especially in the final game of the round against Penrith Pumas.

Late in the second half, Lauren helped Tigers stay strong defensively as the team battled to a thrilling 25–24 victory — a result that capped off a fantastic weekend of WR5s for the Tigers.

A brilliant performance and a well-deserved award for Lauren.

A thrilling weekend of WR5s saw both Tigers and Swifts unbeaten in Round 2.

After a challenging Round 1, the Tigers knew they needed a big performance to stay in title contention — and they delivered. With consistent performances across the day, the Tigers secured convincing wins against North East Barbarians, Northampton Saints, and Help For Heroes.

It all came down to the final game against Penrith Pumas, who had beaten Tigers in Round 1 to end their impressive unbeaten run. This time, it was Tigers who came out on top in an enthralling contest, sealing a dramatic 25–24 victory in the final moments of the game. That result now sets up a huge Round 3 battle for the WR5s Premiership title in July between the two top sides.

Our Swifts were equally impressive, cruising to another unbeaten round and putting themselves in pole position in League One heading into the final round.

The weekend also saw Hayley Cassin celebrate her 50th Tigers cap, with the young Tiger producing some outstanding performances alongside teammate Lauren Saphir, who picked up Best in Class in the 0.5 classification.

For Tigers, the return of Clive Smith and Jules Allen brought valuable experience and energy to the side, while Rhumbie Mulomo continued her excellent form for the Swifts with another top-class performance.

A brilliant weekend all round for Leicester Tigers Wheelchair Rugby.
