When they realize they’re working too much and exercising too little, most people might join a gym or maybe hire a personal trainer. Dani Aravich decided to train for Tokyo 2020. In the 400-meter dash. An event she had never raced.

The Minneapolis Ski Jumping Club has invited all SkiSparks level 4/5/6 and Skiwerx skiers to "try-it" at the ski jumps at Hyland in Bloomington on February 15th from 10 AM until noon (weather permitting).

The Minneapolis Ski Jumping Club will provide skis and boots. They have a limited number of helmets available and prefer that skiers bring their own if they are able.

Ski jumping is a Nordic sport, so the free heel won't be a surprise for to cross country skiers! You can become an official Nordic Combined athlete!

The Minneapolis Ski Jumping Club charges $25 for the session. Please arrive at 9:30 for paperwork and fitting the skiers.

How does this work?
"We start skiers slowly and progress as their ability allows. For example, we start on gentle slopes to get a feel for the skis and then progress to steeper slopes. Next we have the skier hop on the steeper slope to see if they can keep their balance. After that, we move to the smallest jump! (one foot high bump)"

Minnesota’s Michael LeBlanc will race in his first international World Cup competition today.
Thanks to the Metro West conference for fair times for athletes with adaptations. This makes competing fun and fair and inspires athletes to dream big. Go Michael!

He was in fifth grade, his friend was into Nordic skiing and she really wanted him to give it a try because she thought he’d have fun. LeBlanc is now a junior in high school and competes both on his high school team and a club team near his home of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
