Penultimate day in Dublin, and Ferdi is back on site and straight into the boat park.

From keeping the charter fleet race ready to catching up with plenty of familiar faces, it’s been another busy morning around the boats.

A lot of work goes on behind the scenes, but there are still plenty of smiles before racing gets underway.

The charter fleet still looking the part on a tricky light-air day in Dublin Bay.

Only one race was completed, with the second unable to get away as the breeze faded.

Three races are on the cards tomorrow, with an early start planned.

Throwing it back to the ILCA 7 Men’s Worlds and a perspective from Philipp Buhl on what the charter system gets right.

For Philipp, the value is in knowing the equipment is equal, the process is smooth and the focus stays on the sailor.

After 17 World Championships, he has seen the system evolve a long way, and says the current setup makes it easy to arrive, collect the boat, sort the final details and get racing.

He also highlights the importance of the support behind it all, with Ferdi and the Ziegelmayer team putting real emphasis on consistency, reliability and making sure every sailor has access to the same standard of equipment.

For us, that is exactly the point. Make the process simple, make the boats equal, and let the racing decide the rest.

Line Flem Høst (NOR) on the confidence that comes with having the Ziegelmayer team behind the charter fleet.

With every sailor racing a supplied boat, consistency matters. Just as important is knowing that if something needs attention, there is a team in the boat park ready to help, make adjustments and keep the boats race ready.

“It gives a really good security for us sailors to know that we can actually trust the ones supplying the boats.”

That support is a big part of making the charter system work across a World Championship.

A few frames from the opening day of racing in Dublin.

Our ILCA fleet is out on Dublin Bay, with the sailors firmly in championship mode and plenty more racing still to come.

Agata Barwińska on one of the big advantages of a charter boat World Championship.

Arrive with the key equipment you know and trust, step into an identical supplied boat, and let the racing decide the rest.

For Agata, that level playing field is one of the strengths of the ILCA class, with our team also on hand throughout the event to keep the fleet race ready when support is needed.

That is the aim for us throughout the week, reliable boats, consistent equipment and support when it matters.

A look inside the work that keeps the charter fleet moving through a World Championship.

For Ziegelmayer boat builder Konrad Löw, the job does not stop once the boats are handed over. With 30 boats from the men’s fleet no longer required for the women’s event, the team is already repairing foils, sorting equipment and preparing boats for shipment back to Germany.

The days can be long, especially when repairs have to fit around racing, inspections and the Irish weather, but for Konrad it is all part of the job.

“Sailing, working with boats, it’s a good life.”

Race day starts tomorrow in Dublin.

The boats are prepared, the fleet is ready, and the 2026 ILCA 6 Women’s World Championship is about to get underway.

Time to race.

Pre-race checks underway in Dublin ahead of the ILCA 6 Women’s World Championship.

Ferdi takes us through the inspection process, checking each supplied bottom section is class legal, fit for racing and consistent across the fleet before it gets the final tick.

It is all about equal equipment, reliable gear and making sure nothing outside the supplied package finds its way into racing.

Behind every major regatta is a logistics puzzle most sailors never see.

In the latest part of our behind-the-scenes series, Ferdi talks through the planning that sits behind major international events, and how far ahead the work has to begin.

For the upcoming World Sailing World Championships in Fortaleza, another fleet is being shipped directly from Thailand. But with reduced capacity through the Panama Canal, longer transit times and sharply increased shipping costs, the whole delivery schedule has had to move forward by several weeks.

It’s the kind of work most sailors will never see, but it’s critical to making sure the boats are there, prepared and ready when they arrive.

As Ferdi puts it, the job is simple: overcome the hurdles, serve the sailors and make sure they leave the water smiling.
