Why? 👀

💪Because I want you to grow
😎to be more confident
📈go out of your comfort zone.

It fosters discipline. Physik and mental strength. And connection. Your body is capable of so much more than your mind lets you believe it is.

Whenever I announce this little challenge in my classes*, the reaction is usually the same: nervous laughter, looking around the room if other people feel intimidated as well. ⚡️(*not in my Yin classes don’t worry ;))

And then, afterwards: proudness, excitement and yes, of course exhaustion. 😇

I picked up this little “tradition” from my teacher .yoga.worldwide - who made us do this more often than I can remember 🙈

Using every break for free movement! 🙏🏼 the bus drivers are required to take a 10-15 min every ~ 3 hours or so which i welcomed immensely! ✨

I felt weird flying from Germany to France, driving my Van down there would’ve taken ages + a lot of gas and the train would’ve required many changes which due to delays etc would’ve probably taken much longer & would’ve been super stressful.

So bus it was. Sitting for so long in a cramped space is ok for some time - but 20 hours is a lot. So I moved my body every break we got throughout the day (but I tried to sleep trough the night) 🧘‍♀️

What would you have done? 👀

What are your thoughts? 💭 There is a significant difference between EUSTRESS and DISSTRESS. One is crucial for you, the other detrimental. 🙈

We had a cacao circle on our latest “date with yourself. The Yoga day retreat.” 🍫 with the delicious cacao from 💛

Melissa prepared it for us and told us a lot about its origin, meaning and immense benefits 🙏🏼

In case you weren’t there, let us give you a brief summary:

The history of cacao dates back to ancient civilizations such as the Olmecs, Maya, and Aztecs. These cultures held cacao in high esteem, utilizing it in various aspects of daily life and ritual. 🫘
The Maya civilization considered cacao sacred. Mayas offered it to god “fire”.🔥
Cacao beans were consumed as a beverage mixed with
spices. The Olmecs are believed to be the first civilization to cultivate cacao. Archaeological evidence suggests they used cacao to create ceremonial drinks. The Aztecs also revered cacao, referring to it as “xocoatl.” They believed it was a gift from the god Quetzalcoatl. Cacao was a luxury item, reserved for the elite, warriors, and priests. It was also used as a form of currency.💵

Next to its spiritual aspects it also provides a lot of health benefits such as magnesium, flavonoids and antioxidants. 🧘🏼‍♀️

Didn’t think a cup of cacao could be that healthy, did you? 😇 it is important to notice that there is a huge difference between raw spiritual cacao and the ready mix powder you buy at grocery stores. 🙅🏼‍♀️

Why? Because my classes are about YOU. I walk around to make sure your alignment is good. I push you if I feel you can go deeper (and mostly you can). I support you and give personal adjustments where needed. 🤞🏼 my verbal cuing has improved immensely when I stopped being glued to my mat.

Plus: this way you are not tempted to distract yourself from your practice to see what I’m doing - because I’m not there demonstrating. Often when you’re beginning with yoga or aren’t very confident in what you’re doing you’ll look at a the teacher - even though you actually know and understand the posture. 🧘‍♀️

Saying that demonstrating isn’t bad at all and for some asanas it’s indeed very helpful. Especially when they’re advanced or you want to show a certain alignment or variation. Still- a teacher should teach and not practice themselves during a class. Shifting this focus will also make students more seen and taken care for. 🌼

But now from the students perspective: what do you prefer?
