Run Part: Solid ✅
Started with a hough gap.
Find a rhythm not like in back in Lanzarote, but that race was still in the system. Missed a bit of leg speed. Top 10 was possible till the end. So I didn’t gave up. Finished 12th.
Thank to all who cheered on me - to my wife, family and friends
And what a great crowd out there one the course…

Checking out swim course - most likely without wetsuit 🏊♂️
But no problem: I will use the speedy rebel pro

3rd Overall
2022 And I´m happy and not with it ...
But first thanks to all my supports:
, , , Coach, my wife and all the other friends - thank you very much 💪🏼
1. Ironman Lanzarote is definitely a tough one. Know as the "The Man Test" and I passed ✅
2. In the last months I have done some diagnoses and tests - The result was that a high performance in Ironman will not be possible, especially in cycling. So: On the one hand is testing. On the other is training and the race mode, which I lost at the first half marathon.
3. The show must go on. Realy, It must?

2022 Run Part:
I don´t know what went “wrong” but I did a “never give up” run:
1. Training: nearly same training load like one my first long distance, but missed 2 long runs. I was comfortable with my training and felt ready for a good marathon pace
2. Racing: I couldn't find a rhythm, just between km 24 and 34 I had a flow
3. “gear”: Nutrition was good over bike and run but I stopped every aid station to drink, that's where I lost also time

2022 Bike Part:
Watt 😎 was needed to ride under 5h over the island:
1. training: 3-4 weekends with long rides
2. racing and pacing: compared to my last race less of the hard stuff, but more of Ironman pace, nearly the same average. I like the course, hanging alone the wind.
3. gear: new race suit and a lower front wheel to control the cross winds (thx for helping me out )

2022 Swim Part:
What was needed to be in the front pack?
1. weekly training: 3 sessions, mixed programs, lots of feeling, drills, kicks and medley, 1 hard set, 12-14 km, together with good strength work
2. one season opener race: Where I was remembered how important it was to be focused before and in the first 4-8 min in a race. So I was was more focused on the start and on the first 300-400m.
3. and of course: the best wetsuit I've ever swim - sailfish ultimate ips plus 3 - it's extremely flexible, arms and shoulders have maximum freedom of movement and you still have a lot of buoyancy
