Anthroposophic clay sculpting goes beyond mere artistic skill-building; it is considered a form of soul work. By shaping the clay, individuals engage in a dialogue with their inner selves and with the elemental forces inherent in the material. This process is believed to facilitate personal growth, self-awareness, and spiritual development.
Moreover, in Waldorf/Steiner education, clay sculpting is integrated into the curriculum as a holistic learning experience. It nurtures not only artistic abilities but also fine motor skills, sensory awareness, and emotional intelligence. Through clay sculpting, students learn to observe and respect the natural world while honing their creative expression and nurturing their connection to the spiritual dimensions of life.

As this year comes to an end and the sixth International Masters in Waldorf education here in Stuttgart comes to a conclusion, it’s with sadness that we bid farewell to this incredible bunch of individuals and with immense hope in that we look forward to seeing everything that they will bring to the world.
With the warmth and guidance of course leader Iris, this group has built a worldwide community within the locality, bringing the warmth of diverse cultures and nationalities (and also delicious food) to the area.
While we excitedly await the arrival of many new students for the seventh international masters in Waldorf Education, let’s take a look back at this amazing year and a half…

Isabel Lenschow, handicraft teacher extraordinaire at the Freiehochschule Stuttgart, awakened a deep love and appreciation for handwork in all the International Masters students.
The three weeks in the handwork room were spent wet-felting, finger knitting, sewing bean-bags, making wooden knitting needles and (for some) knitting for the first time.
It was a very enriching experience for all.

Robert McNeer and Pia Wachter joined the International Masters Program for two weeks of intensive and enriching work on 'Lyric Theatre', with the intention to cultivate the right environment for each individual to be more fully themselves.
The group explored physical theatre, rhythm and trust activities, embodying poetry and countless other exercises.

Embracing the essence of Waldorf/Steiner education – where handwork becomes a powerful tool for holistic learning. Through crafting and creating, students develop not only practical skills but also cultivate patience, focus, and a profound connection with their work. Handwork isn't just about creating tangible objects; it's a pathway to nurturing creativity, resilience, and a deep appreciation for the art of making. 🌿🎨
