It’s time for another Open Studio as part of the KDS Residency Program!

We look forward to welcoming you this Friday (tomorrow!), August 14, from 16:00–17:00 in the Erik Aschengreen Studio.

This time, you’ll meet Sophia Mage (Sophia Mage) and her piece ‘The Warmth of Other Suns’.

‘The Warmth of Other Suns’ follows the loose trajectory of a group of galactic wanderers as they churn and carve their way through atmosphere, gas, and bone. Incessantly charged by photons from a dying sun, they grapple with their own bodies in a state of constant transmutation. The urge to alchemize from dense matter to light arises from within and extends into greater cosmic bodies. Ancient and tragically naïve, they bounce between events of surrender and defiance, from star to star, moment to moment—repeating, reducing, winding and unwinding.

Through the framework of science fiction, the performance unfolds in a space and time free of linear form. By sustaining ambiguity through states of suspension - between the self, the other, and the formless the performers create a threshold of transformation. Through states of trance and repetition, rigid structures and identities dissolve, and relating softens across inner experience and outward form.’

The Warm of Other Suns premieres at Dansehallerne on October 6, 2026.

Hello, August! 🌞

The first week of you is here, and after the summer holidays we’re slowly settling back into our regular rhythm, with a schedule full of dancing to ease us right back in.

There’s still time to sign up for Jens-Antonio Schyth Brøndum’s Contemporary Workshop (Tuesday–Friday, 11:00–13:00). As Jens-Antonio is soon heading to Frankfurt to join the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company, we’ve packed this week with as many opportunities to dance with him as possible, culminating in a Sensommer Dance class with him on Friday at 17:00.
Don’t miss the chance to join him before his next exciting chapter begins!

We’re also delighted to again welcome Adi Salant, who will teach Intermediate Contemporary Repertoire on Saturday, 10:00–11:30, followed by LIM – Life Is Moving!, an open invitation for everyone to share in the joy of movement.

We can’t wait to dance with you.

SEE YOU AT THE STUDIO! ❤️

WE HOPE YOU’RE READY, BECAUSE WE ARE!🥳

We just can’t get enough of the good stuff, so we’ve added even more regular classes to the weekly schedule for you to join!

Of course, you’ll still find your favourite classes and teachers, but we hope you’ll discover a few new favourites too. (More on that coming soon...)

Put on your dancing shoes, folks!

A warm welcome to yet another Open Studio Showing, where artists from the København Danser Studios Residency Program share their creative process.
We look forward to seeing you this Friday, July 31, 16:00 – 17:00 at the Pina Bausch Studio.

1. Clara Luna Nordahl: “Being in Motion”

“Being in Motion” is a workshop / facilitation method aimed at mapping out paths to that elusive state of ‘letting go’. The ambition of the method is to foster sustainable artistic and civic practices, in response to a hypercomplex society, dominated by productivity and performativity. Structured around Otto Scharmer’s Theory U, the method explores principles such as awareness, pleasure, playfulness and effort as guideposts into the unknown, allowing us to “let go,” in order to “let come”.

Facilitator: Clara Luna Nordahl (ᴄʟᴀʀᴀ ʟᴜɴᴀ ɴᴏʀᴅᴀʜʟ)
Dancers in research process: Martin Schøn (Martin Schøn), Julie Pontoppidan (), Julia Zamora (Julia🙃)
Supporter: Snabslanten ()

2. Mille Skov and Johanne Juel: “Watch me jazz”

During our residency, we have been exploring different qualities within the old school jazz genre, working on individuality and how to merge different qualities.

Concept and Dance: Mille Skov (Mille Skov) / Johanne Juel (Johanne Juel)

3. Anastasia Krasnoshchoka

A work-in-progress sharing of a solo dance piece exploring what happens when art, culture, and stories are erased — and how they live on in the body and in shared memory. Drawing on Ukraine’s history of cultural annihilation, this early showing moves between loss, resistance, and hope, opening onto universal questions of identity, memory, and democracy.

This time, you’ll meet the following artists:

ASTRID BRUUN LYBY / LILLI O’REILLY – “Future On”

“Future On” is a contemporary dance performance exploring time, presence, and the fundamental human need for connection. Through movement, the work investigates what remains of us when outer layers are stripped away, and only time continuously shapes our bodies and relationships.

MOVEMENT CHOIR – “I do my best?”

Movement Choir dives into the anatomy of guilt and shame and explores the question: why are we so afraid of doing the wrong thing? Using their voices and bodies as tools for physical storytelling, the group pieces together fragments of their own lived experiences to create an absurd, funny, honest, and poetic exploration of this theme.

Week 29 at København Danser Studios - yay!🙀☀️🌊

You know the drill: for us, it’s just another week filled with all kinds of goodies to keep you on your toes – literally.

Do make sure to check the schedule, as starting times tend to shift from week to week at this time of year. One thing that never changes, though, is our enthusiasm for swirling, twirling, shifting, jeté-ing, and having a whole lot of fun doing it.

There are no workshops this week, but the following week we’re bringing you none other than Holly Dorger herself, who will be teaching Ballet 1.1 for five consecutive days, starting on July 27 at 12:00.

You’d better get a secure spot, because it’ll be too good!! Head to our bio for more info.

SEE YOU AT THE STUDIOS! ❤️
