The first Melee was a race bike with room to spare — 35 mm tyres, fender mounts, a taller front end. With the Fray now covering all-road duty, ENVE has sharpened the Melee into a pure race bike.
Aerodynamics: a 17-watt saving over the first-generation Melee at 50 kph: 11.4 watts from frame, fork and seatpost, 3 watts from the new bar and bar tape, 2.6 watts from the bottle cages. Frame surface area is down 7.5%.
Weight — a size 56 in Ultralight Black comes in under 800 g, and a complete build reaches the UCI 6.8 kg limit with SRAM Red AXS or equivalent.
Front end — a smaller headset allows a reworked head tube shape that cuts frontal area, and the stack is lower than V1’s.
Tyre clearance — down from 35 mm to 33 mm, which ENVE says buys both drag and weight while still fitting the higher-volume tyres riders now run.
Details: a new, more aerodynamic zero-offset seatpost saves a further 28 g and gets a lightweight two-bolt clamp. The bottom bracket moves to BSA, the hanger to UDH, and the frame is claimed to be stiffer than its predecessor.
