132.5 cm GAULA GIANT😮💪🎣
So this is the 132.5cm male salmon I caught in 2021. It was caught on the pool that no one wants to fish, Øksoy.
It’s possibly the biggest Atlantic salmon caught in the world last year, almost certainly the longest. The story can be found in the Feb issue of ‘Trout and Salmon’ magazine.
👉It was 132.5 cm long, making it slightly longer than Georgina Ballantine’s British record. The girth is smaller, however.
👉I caught this fish in September last year while participating in a catch and release scheme to collect scales from adult salmon.
👉With the fish being caught outside the official season, I claim no merit for its capture but it’s a Gaula giant and it’s part of the river’s history.
