R&Ds Volleyball Academy Donates Volleyball Equipment to Convent High School and St. Mary’s Academy
Roseau, Dominica – On Friday, January 17, 2025, R&Ds Volleyball Academy made a significant contribution to the development of volleyball at the Convent High School and St. Mary’s Academy with the donation of essential volleyball equipment. The donation, which included a pair of volleyball poles, an official volleyball net, and six balls for each school, was made possible through a partnership with DOWASCO, who played a key role in providing the poles.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Robert Guiste, President and Director of R&Ds Volleyball Academy, described the donation as timely and reflective of the academy’s commitment to giving back to the schools that have been integral to its journey. “This is a way of expressing our gratitude and fostering the growth of volleyball at the grassroots level,” he said.
R&Ds Volleyball Academy’s roots can be traced back to 2019 at the St. Mary’s Academy, where Robert Guiste and Coach David Toussaint initially trained SMA students. Over time, the academy expanded to include students from the Convent High School and eventually attracted participants from across Dominica, including the Kalinago Territory. The academy was officially launched in July 2023 with the primary mission of developing volleyball throughout the island.
This donation comes at a critical time, as both schools prepare for the Sports Division Schools Volleyball League. With Convent High School serving as a competition venue, the new poles and nets will be instrumental in facilitating the upcoming matches.
R&Ds Volleyball Academy remains dedicated to promoting the sport of volleyball and providing opportunities for young athletes to excel. This initiative reflects the academy’s vision of fostering talent and building a strong volleyball community in Dominica.
