Dominica Amateur Volleyball Association

Over the past few weeks, R&D Academy hosted a Volleyball Summer Camp aimed at young players aged 14 and over, providing them with an opportunity to develop their skills, learn the fundamentals of the sport, and build confidence on the court.

Leading the camp was Coach David Toussaint, who shared his years of experience and knowledge with the next generation of volleyball players. Through focused training, drills, and practical sessions, participants were challenged to improve their technique while developing a deeper understanding and appreciation for the game.

Camps like these are an important part of nurturing young talent and creating a strong foundation for the continued growth and development of volleyball in Dominica.

Congratulations to Adicia Burton and Jaleel Lewis on successfully completing the FIVB Level 1 Coaching Course held in the British Virgin Islands this week.

Their commitment to learning and continued development is a testament to their dedication to volleyball. We are confident that they will put the skills and knowledge gained into practice and play an important role in further developing volleyball across the island.

Building Our Coaching Capacity

The Dominica Amateur Volleyball Association is pleased to announce that two Dominicans, Jaleel Lewis and Adicia Burton, are currently in the British Virgin Islands participating in an FIVB Level 1 Coaches Course.

Jaleel and Adicia were selected in recognition of their continued commitment to the development of volleyball in Dominica. Their dedication and experience place them in a strong position to help expand coaching capacity and develop the sport in areas of the island that require additional coaching expertise.

The course runs from August 17–21, and we wish Jaleel and Adicia every success as they continue to enhance their knowledge and coaching skills.

Congratulations to our newest ECVA National Volleyball Referees!

A huge congratulations to Don Gordon, Lisa James, and Richard Wilson on successfully completing the ECVA National Volleyball Referees Course in the British Virgin Islands.

After successfully passing the theoretical portion of the course, the trio put their knowledge into practice on the court, officiating matches at the 2026 ECVA Senior Championships as part of the practical component.

Their successful completion of the course is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and commitment to the continued development of volleyball.

We are proud of their achievement and look forward to seeing them continue to grow and excel as referees.

Congratulations to Sherron Vidal on being named Best Outside Hitter at the 2026 ECVA Senior Men’s Championships!

Sherron’s calm presence and lethal attacking prowess powered Dominica through some of the toughest moments of the tournament. When the pressure mounted, he continued to deliver.

He finished the tournament with an impressive 63 points — 51 kills, 10 aces and 2 blocks — while hitting at a remarkable 51% success rate.

A dominant performance from start to finish and a well-deserved individual honour. Congratulations, Sherron!

Congratulations to Larian Tulloch on being named Best Outside Hitter at the 2026 ECVA Senior Men’s Championships!

Larian brought his exceptional passing ability and lightning-fast arm swing to every match, proving to be a key weapon for Dominica throughout the tournament.

He finished with 68 points, including an outstanding 22-point performance in the semifinal.

A well-deserved individual honour for a player who consistently delivered when his team needed him most. Congratulations, Larian!

Congratulations to J’den Robinson on being named Best Setter at the 2026 ECVA Senior Men’s Championships!

J’den ran a smooth and effective offense while making his presence felt with sharp defensive plays throughout the tournament. His composure, precision, and all-around performance were key to Dominica’s run to a well-earned bronze medal.

A well-deserved individual honor for a standout tournament. Congratulations, J’den!

🏆 BEST LIBERO!

Congratulations to Mervin Mingo, who has been named Best Libero of the 2026 ECVA Senior Men’s Championships in the British Virgin Islands!

Mervin was rock-solid in serve reception throughout the tournament, while his stunning digs and relentless defensive effort kept Dominica in countless rallies.

His outstanding performances played a key role in helping the team secure bronze at the championships.

A well-deserved individual honour for one of Dominica’s defensive standouts. 🇩🇲

Two teams. Two comebacks. Two HUGE wins.

Our ladies got the day started at 11am against Anguilla in the 5th-place playoff. After falling to Anguilla in the pool phase, the ladies came out with revenge on their minds and delivered, battling to a thrilling 3-2 victory to secure 5th place.

Then it was the men’s turn, taking on Bermuda with bronze on the line. After dropping the opening two sets, the guys found another gear, storming back to complete an incredible 3-2 comeback victory and claim bronze.

What a way to close out the tournament for both teams. 🇩🇲

The heartbreak of a 5-set semifinal loss to St. Lucia is behind them, and our boys are back in good spirits and ready to battle for bronze!

They take on Bermuda at 2:00 PM today with a medal on the line.
