On Thursday 26 February 2015 in game #3 of the RVBL playoffs best of 5 finals the Lily Valley Sharks defeated the Elijah Law Thunderers by 6 points maintaining a consecutive 3 win streak with the final scored 73-67. It was win or go home for the Thunderers and things looked promising up till half time as they lead by a mere 5 points. On the contrary with the game having started off slowly for the Sharks that didn't deter nor sway them off the course of their mission which was to pop the champagne, cut the cake, take home the championship trophy and close the season . It was a very well attended match and those who were absent watching some exciting basketball.
The Sharks were the Ball O Rama Champions now they are the League Champions for 2014/15 while the Thunderers are the Regular Seasons Champions and Runners Up.
For the Sharks - Junior Isles 26pts
Bernard Mills & Ian Brumant - 12pts
Garth Joseph - 11pts
For the Thunderers - Edmund Williams - 18pts
Halo Ballot - 16pts
Craig Angol - 15pts
The season has been successfully completed thanks to a lot of hard work, commitment, and sponsorship. In the end there were tears of sorrow and sounds of joy. Thanks to everyone who has aided in one way or another to conclude this season of basketball. We can all look forward to DABA as we shift the focus on them.
RVBL - This is Basketball
We set standards for others to maintain blazing the trail for them to follow.
Tomorrow night at this hour all hell breaks loose in Lilly Valley, Trafalgar because Basketball will be on fire!!!!! Come see Thunder roll and Sharks walk in game 3 of the RVBL playoffs best of 5 finals series. Its do or die for the Thunderers so they must win or go home. It promises to be great. Can the Sharks maintain a winning streak or will the Thunderers come out under their spell????
There is cake to cut, champagne to pop and a trophy to take home. Game time 8:00 PM sharp. Miss it and blame yourself.
Bring your horns, whistles and buckets to make some noise. See you there!!!!!
On Saturday 21 February 2015 in game #2 of the RVBL playoffs finals best of 5 series the Regular Seasons Champions Elijah Law Thunderers suffered a 23 points defeat going down to the Ball O Rama Champions Lily Valley Sharks. After much bragging via Facebook by the Thunderers tonights defeat will teach them a very important lesson and old proverb " Never count your eggs before they hatch". The game started off great offensively and defensively by both sides. At the end of the 1st quarter the Sharks ensured that they kept their opponents at bay. The likes of the Brumant Brothers and Milo the Choir orchestrator were on display scores 22-14.
In Quarter 2 Tony Lee was simply just changing gears up and down scoring buckets after buckets building on that lead from the 1st quarter and he was heavily assisted by Junior Isles in doing so. Until tonight it was never known that a Shark can be a security guard. At the half the Sharks led by 16 points with scores 46-30.
With the 3rd quarter on the Thunderers seemingly were under a spell tonight since they were unable to roll. With slight wet conditions the Sharks kept on playing with the aim to secure a win ending the quarter with scores 69-48.
In the last quarter the Thunderers still feeling optimistic though there seemed to be immense pressure was not going to give up easily. They played hard tried hard and fouled even harder. A great team effort as they tried to lock the gate but in came the sharks as they kept forgetting the back door. Again came Tony this time around in high gear scoring 13 points in that quarter and at the sound of the buzzer it was victory for the Sharks winning by the final scores 91-68. Seemingly at that rate the Thunderers are out for deja vous and if they fail to secure a win they will once again be going down just as last season losing 3 consecutive games.
For the Sharks - Tony Lee 39pts
Junior Isles - 27pts
Bernard Milo Mills - 11pts
For the Thunderers - Craig Angol 17pts
Ramal Carbon - 13pts
Dwight Baron - 12pts
Halo Bellot - 10pts
Game 3 will take place on Thursday 26 February 2015 @ 8:00 PM Sharp.
To those who say "leadership is nothing", "leadership is lonely" the Trafalgar Basketball Committee says "leadership is everything" as we will be carried live on DBS Radio, and live via CBN 4 News on MARPIN Channel 49. The Champagne is ready to pop, the Cake is ready to cut and the Trophy is ready to be lifted.
Will the Thunderers show some resilience to bounce back and take it to game 4? Well one way to find out is to be present at game 3 on Thursday 26 February.

RVBL FINALS BEST OF 5 SERIES
Now that carnival is over the Trafalgar Basketball Committee would like to advise players, teams, fans, well wishers and the general public that the Roseau Valley Basketball League Last Lap is officially on from tomorrow Thursday 19 February 2015 at 8:00PM sharp.
Following the last semifinals match on Wednesday 11 February between Regular Season Champions Elijah Law Thunderers and the Defending Champions Ronald Charles Bullets protest actions were initiated when the RC Bullets Captain signed the score sheet after the match. To date no written correspondence was received by the Committee from the RC Bullets for review according to rule #16 and as a result this protest having been signed and expired has become null and void. The 48 hour window expired at 12:00 noon on Saturday 14 February 2015. It is now a matter of the past and we are moving on. "Blessed are those who dwell on the past for they shall be stuck in the past"
Come see the top 2 teams come head to head as they take on each other for the finals. All games will be played at 8:00PM. Spread the word. Bring something to make some noise as you cheer on for your team See you there!!!!!! See you there!!!!!!
On Wednesday 11 February 2015 in game #16 of the RVBL playoffs semifinals game 3 of the best of 3 series the defending champions Ronald Charles Bullets went down against the regular season champions Elijah Law Chambers by 8 points. From the tip off both teams wanted to win. Evidently the RC Bullets were out for victory and ended the quarter with a lead of 10 points scores (20-10). In the 2nd quarter it was much more of the same with great defense and offense from both sides and once again the Bullets were in the lead by 8 points scores (40-32). In the 3rd quarter the Thunderers having heightened the game made a significant come back to get on a level playing field. Their hard work through steals and fast breaks they were able to cut down the lead from 8 points to 2 points with the Bullets still leading scores (54-52). In the final quarter it was filled wit suspense and the crowd was cheering on with all their might. No one was certain who would win but a little birdy predicted overtime. With a few lead changes and about 11 game times that prediction became reality. A miraculous 3 point field goal by the Bullets captain and then a turn over by the Thunderers brought the match to an additional 5 minutes overtime period with the scores having been tied at 79 a piece with both sides in bonus on the foul situation. In that overtime period the Bullets although trying to retain their composure allowed the game to slip away as the time diminished. Lost ball turn overs missed shots from 3 point land and most drastically their inability to convert on the free throw line coated them the game. In the end it went to the Thunderers favor. The final scores 91-83 points in favor of the Thunderers.
For the Thunderers - Craig Angol 24pts
Kerwin Gregoire 18pts
Ramal Carbon - 17pts
Edmund Williams -15pts
Yannick Regis -10pts
For the Bullets - Fitzgerald Daniel 23pts
Thomas Felix - 22pts
Javeed Joseph - 14pts
Yanon Ducreay - 11pts
The Bullets Captain Fitzgerald Daniel has filed protest action since he believes that the Trafalgar basketball Committee acted in an ultra viol us manner with regards to the stipulated rules of the game not taking into account that there is a tool when making tough and informed decisions namely discretion. For further guidance please refer to Rule #'s 1,2,16 of the 2014/15 RVBL .
Please note that gross misconduct or gross disrespect toward any official present at the game will not be permitted. Players DO NOT, CANNOT, & WILL NOT dictate to the officials or the league administration when games should be played or called off. Players if you have any concerns they may be put in writing and will be dealt with accordingly however as a player your primary responsibility is to be present and on time when scheduled to play.
To the Ball O Rama Champions Lily Valley Sharks and the Regular Season Champions Elijah Law Thunderers we say see you in the finals commencing Friday 20, February 2015.
Have a peaceful carnival
Basketball!!!! Basketball!!!! Basketball!!!! Update

Will it be Bullets or Thunderers in the finals with the Sharks??? Your guess is as good as mine.

Who for Bullets hands in the air!! Who for Thunderers hands in the air!!!!
On Saturday 7 February 2015 in game #15 of the RVBL playoffs semifinals game 2 of the best of 3 series the Fond Cani Rebels suffered a 20 point blow out by the Lily Valley Sharks alongside the Brumant Brothers to end their reign in the series. The Sharks prior to play informed their rivals and I quote " See you in the finals". Starting off the 1st quarter in high gear the Sharks played great both offensively and defensively and although things could have been turned around it was evident that they would emerge victorious.
At the end of quarter 1 the scores were 26-5 points in favor of the Sharks. With much more increased momentum they ended quarter 2 in a remarkable way but the coach noted that the Rebels had too many points on the board. Scores were 47-18 points.
The 3rd quarter brought some hope for the Rebels as they had regrouped being more effective on the defense limiting their opponents to a mere 10 points taking them into low gear and offensively they responded scoring 26 points ending the quarter with the Sharks in the lead by only 13 points with the scores 57-44 points.
In the final quarter the lead having been cut down the Rebels kept on playing hard and the Sharks played even harder. At the sound of the buzzer to end play in period 4 the scores were 80-60 points.
For the Sharks - Junior Isles 28pts
Tony Lee & Garth Joseph 12pts each
Bernard Mills 11pts
Ian Brumant 10pts
For the Rebels - Peter Ricketts 15pts
Joel McIntyre & Ronald Bruno 11pts each
Simon Joseph 10 points
The Sharks are on a long break till after the carnival celebrations awaiting their opponents either the Ronald Charles Bullets or the Elijah Law Thunderers. That will be determined after game 3 on Wednesday night which kicks off at 7:30PM.
We are optimistic that we will be able to do a live streaming test to TV and YouTube compliments the CBN4 News Team alongside freelancer technician Bernel Southwell who will provide that linkage between the RVBL and the rest of the world via high-speed internet so that patrons at home in Dominica and abroad can get a first hand preview before the finals kicks off.
