We shared the herring not long ago… but when they return, we can’t help but stop and admire them all over again. 🐟✨

Thousands of herring surround us at Marco Polo, moving as one breathtaking, shimmering mass.

Absolutely astounding — and a sight we never get tired of seeing. 💙

🩵 When Dad-to-be just wants to be close.

This very pregnant male seahorse spotted his mate and slowly made his way over to be beside her. 🥹🌊

Seahorses are one of nature’s most fascinating role reversals—the female transfers her eggs to the male, and he carries the developing babies in his brood pouch until he gives birth. (Smithsonian Ocean⁠)

Tiny movements, beautiful behaviour, and another reason we never rush a dive. You never know what you’ll get to witness beneath the surface. 💙

🦀 Another surprise hiding in the reef!

This hermit crab had found the perfect hiding place — tucked away in a hole most divers could easily swim right past.

A good reminder when you’re exploring the reef: check the holes, cracks and little crevices. 👀 You never know what might be looking back at you!

Slow down. Look closer. That’s where some of the best finds are. 🤿🌊

Remember our lionfish-eating moray? 🐍🦁🐟

We stopped by to visit one of our favourite residents of Sosúa Bay again!

You might remember him from one of our most-watched reels. We offered him a freshly speared lionfish, hoping he would learn to recognize this invasive species as food — and maybe eventually start hunting them on his own.

He definitely learned one thing… lionfish are delicious. 😂

Lionfish are invasive in the Caribbean and can put serious pressure on native reef fish populations, which is why divers throughout the region work to remove them.

For now, we’re just happy to see our old friend again. 💙🌊

There’s something mesmerizing about watching a stingray. 💙

Stingrays are perfectly adapted for life on the bottom. Their flattened bodies let them settle into the sand, while their eyes sit on top of their heads and their mouths and gill openings are underneath.

They feed mainly on animals hiding in or on the seafloor—small crustaceans, mollusks, worms and sometimes small fish. Using specialized sensory organs called ampullae of Lorenzini, they can even detect the tiny electrical signals produced by hidden prey.

And that famous tail? The venomous spine is primarily defensive, not a hunting weapon. Given space and respect, stingrays generally prefer to swim away rather than confront a diver.

Just off Puntilla Deep in Sosúa Bay, the smaller wreck Natasha is slowly being reclaimed by the sea — and she’s collapsing quickly.

The trip out to Natasha is part of the adventure. Keep your eyes open along the way for turtles, batfish, hermit crabs, stingrays and, occasionally, a lionfish. 🐢🦀

Lionfish are invasive in the Caribbean, so when we encounter them, we remove them whenever possible to help protect our local reef ecosystem.

Natasha may not have much time left. Come dive her with us while there’s still a wreck to visit. 🤿
