If this here sale doesn’t pick us up from our bootstraps then we might as well throw in the towel. This is blatantly, honestly the hard truth of the matter.

We have been doing this here enterprise intensely for 5yrs (6yrs if you count as a non-business entity) so technically it means it’s still baby steps but our nervous systems are barely able to withstand the amountig pressure of being a hamster in a (self-made, admittedly) wheel.

The local bike culture is developing but if we continue on this same path, it’ll literally mean 10 more years of no dental coverage and no social security but no social life as well.

VAT paid to the government is exceedingly cutting into all our earnings. We are still doing investments (we bought a spoke cutter this year and already paid it off 1.5 times by all the wheels the customers needed) so that could explain the lack of profits but tbh, at this amount of work hours, we are desperatly gasping to have just one month of winter’s expenses covered. Today we don’t.

We’ve been stealing bikes ! {Yup. Back from druggies and back to original owners, that is.}

So figured it was time to unveil what one of us has been steadily working on for the last two years.

Since moving into a new hood and coming across a certain individual that we know that used to inhabit our garage section around 4 yrs ago, I decided to follow what endeavors they were currently up to, seeing as they walked out on paying for their rent and electricity in the area we base our workshop at.

What unravelled was weeks and then months of keeping an eye on potentially (but, let’s be fair, 100% certainly) stolen bicycles that they gathered next to these Paljassaare garages.

This area is known for being a problematic place, since the government technically owns the land but any transactions of the occupants trading or selling these Soviet metal garages is still somehow fair game. At least until today they haven’t had any claims of demolishing and levelling the ground there.

It’s a strange ecosystem of sorts that also has renovated spots and some local kooks living in them year round, with some burning cables (to gather copper) on a weekly basis and tossing their discarded car parts into the nature preserve grounds right beside them.

Either way, it is also a magnet for these nifty types of creatures of habit that feel it almost their duty to obtain all and every two-wheeled vehicles they come across. (Sounds awfully similar, eh?)🙄

As you can spot from the photos, usually it’s been bicycles of the cheaper variety but a few odd ones here and there have been brand new and these two have been returned to the owners.

The green Cube was re-united with its original owner, on the same day (last October) that I removed it from our thieving brethren. It was exactly a year lost. The state of the tyres (unridden) gave pause.

Many a bike went probably to pawnshops or to other ventures, since it was impossible to track down the owners online.

At this point, it seems as though the culprits have relocated from this area but there still exists a lair of one of the local Russian-speaking crews. One could still probably find stolen bikes in their possession as I type.

The dragonfly….this here thing has an interesting history.

It was left to us by a local Russian-speaking native that brought it in as a deposit to rent an E-bike for courier riding.

What ensued then is the guy running us around for payments, carrying his woman on the rear rack (the motor is not meant to carry 160kgs of humans) and then disappearing to Sweden without returning the rental. Needless to say, I was happy to end the contract with him when he finally returned the bike.

So this bike was what he was riding at the time. He had replaced the original wheel (26” in the front), had no proper brakes, and the Sora brifters on the bike looked mangled as hell. He had also tried to cover the original white logos with black marker as to make it more stylish…we assume.

Anyhows, after two builds we have this bikepacking/ touring bike with GRX 1x10, 40mm Panaracer tyres, SKS Bluemels mudguards, Acid rack and some enjoyable Prologo bar tape.

For me it proved to be too high of a frame and I was experiencing knee pain so letting this one go to a good home

Available, for now. As I found out after the fact, this dragonfly is inspired by nature itself.

KõKõva 2026 is over for us but this one still brings the stoke. The elation of riding on the sheer cliff side, which was not entirely meant to be the part of the course because hey, people cross it at night while in clips and being utterly exhausted. But in the daytime this made for the most fun moment on the last leg of the trip.
