Matador Sail Racing Team

What an amazing week! Tough competition, all kinds of weather conditions and an excellent team performance. We finished 5th in our class with just 1 points margin to the 3rd place, a result we are very happy with.

A huge thank you to Garmin ORC World Championship 2025, Kalevi Jahtklubi and the city of Tallinn for a very fun and well organised regatta.

What a great first race at the ORC Worlds!

Beautiful scenery along the Finnish archipelago, awesome sailing conditions, and high spirits on board!

We’re excited and ready for more, but for now it’s time to rest up before tomorrow’s inshore races! 🏁

Two Firsts for Matador!
First time sailing in Estonia and first time competing in the ORC World Championships. 🇪🇪🇪🇪⛵

Today featured a practice race and a great opening ceremony, setting the stage for tomorrow’s 211 NM offshore race that will officially open the championship.

Racing will continue throughout the week, with the final races taking place on Saturday. We know the Baltic Sea well, but this corner is new to us and we’re psyched to finally race here against some fierce competition in ORC Class A. 💪

Round Gotland - Gotland Runt - 2nd in class and 4th overall😀 Probably the most beautiful race ever!!! What a stunning scenery and the midnight sun racing around Gotland - passing the magical islands of Lilla and Stora Karlsö. Great team. Great boat and fantastic weather. Thank you for excellent race management. There were some tough calls for you to make but you all managed it well and beyond.

Pre-race yesterday calibrating for Round Gotland Race. Sprint from Saltsjöbaden to Sandhamn. 33 boats participated in the beautiful race through one of the most amazing archipelagos. A good way to get ready in advance of tomorrow’s race and with a first position👌💥

Sandhamn Open Offshore Race. Another 1st position. Great race with excellent team performance✨ Cold. Windy. Still waiting for the Swedish summer🫣 Thank you KSSS for another perfect race organization🙏👏

Matador premiered in North Sail Offshore Clinic last weekend with a 🥇 in ORC. Windy and cold - but lovely to be back on the water after a loooooong looooooong winter

Desperately seeking a new head sail foil. A Harken Carbo Foil unit 3 - 22 meter. Our head sail foil was unfortunately damaged in the early part of the season.

We could not find a new Harken foil and we've heard they have had quality problems from production and that production is currently not active, so we got a replacement foil from Tuff Luff (Aero) which unfortunately had parts of it that broke away from the forestay during our third race of the season.

As we currently have problems finding a new (or used) foil, we can not race until we've managed to find a replacement so if you have one - or know someone who has one - new or used, we would be very happy to buy it. Please DM me in case you can help us getting back out on the water. Br Jonas

Gotland Runt/Round Gotland Race - what a magic race😊 🥉 in class - not too bad as we lost parts of our head sail foil early into the race and was unsure if we could hoist any jibs - or finish the race - but we managed the situation and continued⭐️ Very strong team effort - especially in the early hours of the race with +30 knots of wind and heavy rain.

But after rain - comes sun, and we enjoyed a sunny run back home from the southern point of Gotland - to Sandhamn. It was our fastest race with apx 38 hours on the race course and it was wonderful to see our new young team members rise to the task and perform to their best and finish their first Round Gotland Race.

KSSS - you have managed the race extra ordinary well and it is with great pleasure we have seen the organization improve over time so we as partcipants get to enjoy excellent racing that has been well organized by a competent, welcoming and friendly team from your side. Well done✨👍🙏

It seems like our team agreed as they all have indicated their willingness to do the race again next year.
