At the beginning of July we completed the first round of this years Grandliiga 7-a-side outdoor season. With two hands full of new signings but also a hand full of major injuries we could not set up a decent winning squad to go on a winning streak.

So we had to look from game to game. Especially towards the end of the first round we forgot how to finish up front and score some goals. Luckily we could win last week again on the first game of the second round.

We aim to get back on track and move up from the 2nd last place in the table, all teams are pretty close together still by points, the hope is there!

The moment we all have been waiting for is now closer than ever! This event will definitely go to the club's history despite the result. Come by next Saturday to Sõle and support us on this 11-a-side Estonian Cup 1/64 round against Põhja-Tallinna JK Volta from the 3rd highest league!

⚽⚽⚽Rahvaliiga 2019 Matchday #3⚽⚽⚽

JSK Fööniks was our guest yesterday at Kotka Staadion and the boiling temperatures were the second opponent we had to fight against during the match...

It was not our best performance that day we can say out loud, but we in the end we gained 3 points and climbed the 2nd place in the table with 6 points out of 3 total games played.

The only goal of the match resulted very early from a foul against Marian after he been looking for the contact while entering the left side of the box...no doubt about a penalty decision even from the opponent as it was clear as the water we needed to feed our thirst that day. Dean had the honor and did not disappoint us for the early lead.

After that we lost the steadiness somehow and we were happy that Fööniks only once was really dangerous when they hit the post after a header. We definitely have to do better in the next games to extend our winning streak of 3 games (Rahvaliiga+Grandliiga) right now...

⚽⚽⚽Rahvaliiga 2019 Matchday #2⚽⚽⚽

The second match of the early season of Rahvaliiga brought us to the south of the city to the district of Männiku where FC Error United received us.

With our new Iranian signing Hadi performing at his best, we brought home a 4-1 win. Dean ('21) and Hadi ('23) scored for for the half time score and each of them doubled up on their personal scoring sheet in the '38 and '61 minute.

This brings us up to the 3rd place in the overall table after two games played.

⚽⚽⚽Grandliiga Cup 2019 / Round #1 ⚽⚽⚽

Viking Football Club vs La Strada 40 2-1 (1-0)

Beginning of this week we started in the first round of the Grandliiga Cup 2019 and faced old faces. Just three weeks ago we lost the season opener 2-4 against the same lads...it was time for a revenge.

The first half we could perform our game play basically the way we wanted and had lots of room for it on the pitch. The opponent stood deep and speculated on counter attacks. A promising chance resulting from a boll loss in our defense resulted almost in a good chance for the guests but Juan could place an important foul and received the yellow card for it. We focused again on our attacks; but it was a solo from Kedi on the left flank which brought the ball into the box and after some poking the ball found its way to Mohamed in front of the goal who scored the 1-0 in the 20th minute (happiness overcame the two players).

Half time tea was served and we played the second half, knowing that the opponent had to react now. They did, were more aggressive and consistent in their play. In the 29th minute an actually cleared ball bounced off back from our defender into the dangerous area in front of the goal and the forward rushing striker net it in for the equalizer. Just few seconds later Mohammed managed to perform a great solo on the right corner of the pitch, eliminated his defending player and ran along the ground line trying to find a player of us in the box...intentionally or not, Mohammed just buttered the ball past the post and goalie into the net, 2-1 for us in the 30th minute. We brought the victory over the final time and made it to the next round

⚽⚽⚽Rahvaliiga 2019 Matchday #1⚽⚽⚽

"Dancing in the Rain"

..more accurate cannot be the headline for yesterdays kick-off game into the 2019 Rahvaliiga season. The weather been just really Estonian or let's say, typical "British".

Our opponent JK Karsklus lost their debut with 1-4 and of course they also wanted to earn their first 3 points of the season as ourselves. As our current main goalie Geir was hindered last minute to join the game, Kedi was our only available backup for the goal keeping position. Right into the game our opponent pressed us early standing high and forced us to start attacking with long balls or via the wings.

A long ball was it as well which bounced over our goalie (who underestimated it's bouncing height) for the 0-1 very early into the game. Unlucky. Our heads turned back towards the opponent goal. The biggest chance we created through a throw from Kedi towards Christopher on the right wing who chased the ball with the opponents too optimistic goalie. Chris managed to bring it with a high chip towards the goal but before we could celebrate, the ball was cleared off the line. We did it better just before half time when their goalie ran for a ball out of his comfy zone and landed in a "flipper-style-way" on Mohamed foot who carried it basically into the goal for the 1-1. Halftime.

The rain kept pouring on us and a decent game play was hard to establish still, but just before we could score the 2-1 lead, Hendrigo went painful down to the ground after an harmless sprint to the ground line and could not continue the game. An ambulance had to carry him to the hospital, get well Hendrigo!

The 2-1 lead was a fine combination on the left wing when "Simo" ran down to the ground line and crossed it towards goal where Thibaut brought the ball across the line. We had a dominating phase now and ran several attacks. Thibaut once more had an open chance in front of the goal after a crossing pass from the right side but his direct shot slipped off his boot.

The last 10 minutes were pretty eventful, but more for the opponent than for us. A long ball once more towards the opponent attackers could not be handled but two of our defenders and their striker was clinical enough to score towards the left bottom corner for the 2-2. Sad about the early missed chance to go up 3-1 and now having the equalizer happened, it came worse for us when a central long free kick miles away from our goal came high in towards our goal and landed inches below the crossbar in our goal.

Two unlucky goals cost us the win today but we are looking forward to the next match! Congrats to our opponent! Skol!

The Grandliiga qualification 2019 with three total games came to an end today earning finally 3 points to our debit. After today's 4-3 win over AS Framm, last week's 3-red-carded-draw (2-2) against OlyBet and the 1-4 opener loss against FC Centurion, we are ready to get started for the upcoming long season. With new additions to the squad we only need "here and there" to oil our pistons to make the Viking machine running smoothly!

Upcoming Wednesday we start into the outdoor season with the first of three qualification games of Grandliiga.

Yesterday we faced the lads of Kavial for the 3rd time of the season and again we could not gain a win over them, but we were close!

Last week we could earn another three points on a close win over JK Pääsküla in the Grandliiga futsal season. Knowing we will end up last this season anyway, we surprisingly stronger and better closer to the end of the season.

Thibaut had his debut that day and the man from the country of the world champions did not disappoint us at all. With two goals scored he was the man of the match, but also Kedi, who usually plays outfield, had his debut in goal as our main goal keeper's were absent.
