In the middle of the South Atlantic, about 1,200 miles from Africa, sits an island most divers have never heard of.

Here, dives mean cavern swim-throughs at Long Ledge, orange cup coral glowing inside rocky caves, and reefs filled with species found nowhere else on Earth. Offshore, whale sharks, known locally as “bone sharks”, cruise through cobalt water each summer under some of the world’s most carefully managed encounter rules.
