Paralympic ambitions for Casey Fitzgerald - SpokeOut Magazine 20-year-old Para Powerlifter Casey Fitzgerald has been on a continuous rise since making her debut in 2023 in the sport.

🌟Sports Ability Evening🌟

As part of National Disability in Sport Week, Cavan Sports Partnership are delighted to host a FREE SportsAbility evening to highlight sports & physical activities in Cavan for children with disabilities aged 6+😁

This event will take place on International Persons with a Disability Day,
📆Wednesday 3rd December
📍Breifne College Cavan
⏰7pm-8:30pm

The evening will include Come and Try sessions of Soccer ⚽️ Martial Arts 🥋 and Tai Chi 🧘

Local clubs and organisations will be present with information stands. 💜

It’s hard to believe how far this journey has come.

When I first started parapowerlifting, I never imagined it would take me this far — from the early days learning the sport to now training with the dream of representing Ireland at the LA 2028 Paralympic Games 🇮🇪💪

I’m beyond grateful to have the continued support of Kingspan Group and the Kingspan Sports Fund again in 2025. 🥰💪

Their belief in me and in para sport has made such a difference — helping me push through challenges, stay focused, and keep improving year after year. 💪💪

This isn’t just about lifting weights — it’s about lifting hopes, showing what’s possible, and proving that with the right support and determination, barriers can become stepping stones. 🥰🏋‍♀️🇮🇪

This Friday on The Erris Journal (10am Erris FM 90.8) I'll be speaking to Para Powerlifting Champion Casey Fitzgerald.

I got to know Casey's mum Tracey Fitzgerald a number of years ago when she was nominated for my Bucket list competition for parents of children with special needs. Since then, I have watched Casey grow up via Facebook and take the powerlifting world by storm.

Casey's story is so inspirational, she doesn't let her disability hold her back and I hope this story will encourage other young people living with a disability to chase their dreams ❤️

Parapowerlifting World Championships – Cairo 2025 🇪🇬💪
What an incredible experience!
In the Junior division, I opened strong with 84 kg, missed 87 kg on my second attempt due to the press sequence, but came back and nailed 87 kg on the third — a new personal best! 🔥
Silver and bronze 🥈🥉🇮🇪🇮🇪

Then stepped up to compete in the Senior division last night — started at 85 kg, got all white lights ✅, followed by 88 kg, another perfect lift and another PB!

Unfortunately, missed 90 kg on my third attempt, but I’m proud of my progress and consistency on the platform.🇮🇪💪🏋‍♀️

Every competition is a step forward — grateful for the journey, the coaches, and the support from everyone!
