The SS Rosalie Moller is a highly celebrated World War II shipwreck located in the northern Red Sea, Egypt. Frequently called the “sister wreck” to the nearby SS Thistlegorm, it is widely regarded as one of the best-preserved deep wreck dives in the region.

📜 History & Sinking
* Origins: Built in Glasgow in 1910 as the Francis, the 108-meter cargo ship was later sold and renamed the Rosalie Moller in 1931.
* The Sinking: In July 1941, under Captain James Byrne, she was tasked with transporting 4,680 tons of Welsh coal to Alexandria to fuel Allied ships. While waiting in the Gulf of Suez for canal clearance, the ship was spotted by the German Luftwaffe. On October 8, 1941—just 48 hours after the same squadron sank the Thistlegorm—a German bomber struck her starboard side, causing her to sink with the loss of two crew members.
* Rediscovery: Officially mislogged as scrapped after the war, the wreck remained completely undisturbed until technical divers relocated it in December 1998.

🤿 Dive Site Overview
Because it sat forgotten for decades, the Rosalie Moller escaped the heavy diver traffic and stripping that impacted other sites, leaving its structure remarkably intact.

* Location: Behind the Gubal Islands in the Strait of Gubal, accessible via liveaboard or day trips from Hurghada or Sharm El Sheikh.
* Depth Profile: It rests upright on a sandy bottom. The masts rise to about 18 meters, the main deck sits at 35 meters, and the seabed/propeller area plunges to 45–50+ meters.
* Difficulty: Strictly an advanced/technical dive due to the extreme depth, potentially strong swells, and variable visibility.
