Moray eels have a secret weapon: a second set of jaws hidden inside their throat. When they catch prey, these jaws move forward, grab it, and pull it deeper into the mouth.

And that famous open-mouth expression? They’re not trying to scare you. They’re simply breathing.

Mostly nocturnal, incredibly flexible, and perfectly adapted to life inside the reef, morays are one of the Red Sea’s most fascinating predators.

Beautiful, bizarre, and definitely better admired than touched.
