Wir schliessen unsere Basis in Sharm el Sheikh! (english Version below)

We are closing our centre in Sharm el Sheikh!

It's been 20 years now that it took us to the Red Sea.

The picture above is also so old...))

Despite our Maldivian enthusiasm we had a hard time at the beginning and got the business in Sharm el Sheikh very slowly under control. But thanks to the help of Rolf and Petra/Sinai Divers we started to succeed.
In the meantime they have become our friends and irreplaceable partners! Thanks again for that! Without you we would not have made it in Egypt.

They have been living and working in Sharm for over 40 years and know everyone there. Sharm has become their home.
For both of them the step to give up our common dive centre is surely much harder than for my wife Lilly and me.

But we simply don't see for the next few years any reasonably viable economic opportunities for us in this coastal town. In the last few years, the number of flights has become smaller and smaller. In the meantime, there are no direct flights from Germany at all, and no one knows if and when they will be available again. Our customers became more and more absent and the future is uncertain.

We have even brought the base through the turmoil of the Arab Spring and even now kept it alive for more than one year without income and have continued to pay our employees a salary . But with new additional financial obligations, the burden is just too much for us to bear. Sanity tells us to close now, even if it makes our hearts and the hearts of our long-time employees bleed.

The dive centre will be taken over by Emperor. We have been working together with them for a long time. They will also take over most of our employees. So our regular guests can continue to dive with familiar faces in Sharm. Maybe you will meet Rolf and Petra there as well. They have their house almost around the corner.

We are now concentrating on the Oasis, which will open again in July and we would be happy to welcome you there.

Take care everyone and thanks for everything!!!

To all our clients, partners and friends out there across the world

What a challenging year this 2020 has proposed to us… A year full of challenges never seen before. Resilience and adaptation to change have been the main changes that society has had to promote to adapt to these unexpected circumstances, something that is not always easy to do…

Welcoming the new year may feel a bit different this year, given the challenges of 2020 and the inability to celebrate together. The future has become less predictable, which also means that setting long-term goals is much more difficult. COVID-19 has hit all of us very hard, and it has made 2020 one of the unforgettable years but for wrong reasons.

However, it does not mean that we should give up on our happiness and not find ways to celebrate the upcoming Happy New Year 2021.

A year from now, we do think we’ll be able to look back and say that 2021 was an improvement on 2020. Hopefully in the spring, the vaccines and treatments you’ve been reading about in the news will start reaching the scale where they’ll have a global impact. The improvement may not be enormous, but it will be a noticeable, measurable step forward for people around the world.

Let’s go for 2021!!

Rolf & Petra and the entire Team

Whale Shark!

Our Operation Manager and our guest Julian had the incredible luck to encounter a whale shark in Ras Ghazlani on his very first day of diving with us. A really uncommon sighting in December.

We are all green with envy!

Water sports trade fair to open its doors from 17th to 25th April 2021
Boot Düsseldorf 2021 will be held from 17th to 25th April. The original dates from 23 to 31 January could not be used due to the ongoing high infection numbers across all of Europe.
Messe Düsseldorf has postponed boot after close consultation with its partners and exhibitors who endorse this decision and have opted in favour of the new dates. Announcing the new dates early on Messe Düsseldorf also gives exhibitors planning security for preparing their trade fair participation and transporting their boats and yachts.
Messe Düsseldorf’s CEO Wolfram Diener is convinced that the new dates for boot Düsseldorf send out a positive signal to the water sports industry: “At the present moment in time, we cannot reliably gauge whether a trade fair can be implemented in January 2021. This is due to current infection rates, ongoing travel restrictions and existing legal provisions which do not permit trade fairs to be held currently. 2020 we have already demonstrated that trade fairs can also be held successfully in Corona times while offering all parties involved the greatest possible protection.”
