Badlands

In the high plains before the Gorafe Desert, there are few places to find refuge from the sun.

The most welcome shade is always that of the Guajar Tower. This old 14th-century watchtower ("Atalayas") served as a defense for the Muslim kingdom against the advance of Christian troops. Watchtowers were defensive strongholds located in positions of optimal visibility, such as hilltops and ravines, and usually visually connected to two or more fortifications.

We are happy to announce that Sisters in the Wild will be visiting Badlands on April 25th.

Sisters in the Wild creates cycling adventures for women and non-binary riders, offering spaces to connect through shared exploration, from gravel bikepacking journeys to community events.

Sisters in the Wild will be returning to our territory for the third time to enjoy one of the most diverse and wild landscapes in the world... with the last spots still available.

Tabernas Desert Hub:

As part of our legacy with the local and the cycling community, today we're launching a new section on our website: Ride in the Badlands. In addition to finding our Tours and the Badlands Unplugged route, we're also launching the Tabernas Desert Hub, a Komoot Collection with 6 routes to enjoy the area on your own any time of year.

The proposed routes are not just about cycling through a unique desert landscape, but also about enjoying the great diversity of a territory surrounded by three major mountain ranges (Sierra de los Filabres, Sierra Alhamilla and Sierra Nevada), and located just a few kilometers from the Coast of Almería.
